Post by: grog on Tuesday, 07 May 2024, 07:39 PM
After buying my first GSX 44 years ago, takes me a while to do things, today looked up what GSX stood for. Anyone know without google search?

G= Road bike
S= cast wheels or sports
X= 4 valves pre cylinder
Is what I remember from back in the day
R= race development (not in our or older gsx's)

Indeed I read this meaning of gsx in the mid 1980's but it doesn't stand up thesedays as the gs was a gsx in America and as you say the bandit is covered by the meanings so falls apart bit.
Back in the day
GN was a road custom bike
DR was a offroad style road bike
 That's all I can remember lol
It was long ago and im old  :cheers:

That's what the latest descriptions Sat's right enough.
The 4 valve twin swirl combustion chamber design was brittish I think bit the guy offered it to Ford and other big car manufacturers but nobody wanted it except suzuki and sarb.
I think that might be the experimental part of things  :cheers:

In my German mind it stands for "Geile Suzuki Extrem" Geil(e) can be translated as horny or cool. An extremely horny bike that wants to be riden. How cool is that.  :devil:
