Post by: Tez4b4 on Thursday, 01 February 2024, 12:31 AM
Hi I've owned my GSX1400 for over a year now & have decided to refit the 'Main' stand. Where does this part fit can anyone help please?

Hello and welcome
The search button is a very useful tool in here .
I know from experience that refitting a centrestand is a pain in the ass.
I've seen a few different ways on YouTube on various ways to fit one some look really helpful.

It's normal on the org to head in to the bar and introduce yourself .
I'd suggest you do as apart from anything else if others know the area your in I'm sure they'd be very up for helping you out .

It's a k5 on you have the bent metal  thing and that fits over the stand mount and is to stop the centrestand hitting the exhaust .
This partnis not and was never available as a spare part .
So we'll done for having it

One of them comes with Tri Oval to stop stand hitting. That is just one mother of a frustrating job to fit.

That was for the Yoshi exhaust which came with the bike at new as an optional dealer fit. Essentially when you refit the stand that goes across the top of the stand (where the bolt goes through) with the 2 rubber "bungs" facing downwards to act as a bump stop for when you take the bike off the stand

So essentially you put the "tube" inside the mainstand, then offer that up to the lugs on the frame. You then need to hold the bump stop across the outside of the lugs whilst you insert the bolt through both the bump stop and the stand.

The pictures (below) which are from where I fitted a K2 stand (with spacers) to my K7 when I fitted a dual exhaust - in this you can see the part you refer to (on the last picture, that also shows and extra piece of alloy I glued across the bump stop as the K2 stand came a tad higher than my K7 one once fitted)

This link may help when refitting the stand
