Title: Is a final edition faster?
Post by: Stever on Sunday, 17 December 2023, 05:57 AM
So I have a2006 final edition. I think the only difference is the sticker on the tail hump (can you buy them anywhere, it's faded!)
And the Yoshimura twin oval can.
I got given a standard silencer for it a few months ago, by a guy who used to work at a main dealer. Apparently the FE came to the uk with the standard silencer and the dealer fitted the Yoshi.
I've read lots of test reports, but never seen anywhere if there's a difference in performance.
The standard silencer weighs a lot! The yoshi next to nothing, furthermore the Yoshi is just an absorption silencer, you can see straight through it!!
So is there any difference in performance?
What do we think!
It's a Black one, so it's quicker anyway

Stever, dont know about Dual Oval but Tri Oval when i fitted, could notice a mid range improvement, not much but enough to notice.Tip baffle out and sounds awesome, much deeper than the other three ive tried.

If by standard silencer you mean "the bazooka" yeah, nah.  Nobody wants those, except maybe Irish, he likes 'em.

No faster as the link pipe is restricted.
They are lighter as the original standard exhaust weigh a ton (worse on twin pipe models)
There is a fair bit you could do to increase power and top speed if you have a good look through the pages here .
Good luck

Yes the Bazooka, huge ugly thing, the guy had it on a shelf in his garage for the last 18 years, think he was glad to get rid of it! Not sure what I'm ever going to do with it!
Interesting about the link pipe being restricted, I did notice it seems to have an internal pipe. I wonder if you can get a different link pipe? And what difference it would make?

A different link pipe and end can gives a little more power a fully free flowing exhaust system and a remap(power commander) will give around 115-120 bhp depending on the dyno ,weather on the day and how well the motor was built when new .

My K7 is black and it has the standard bazooka, fastest 14 by far. I think the barkbusters streamline it and make it quicker.

As above regards the can, as for the FE sticker, they are no longer available from Suzuki, haven't been for a few years now. Occassionally an original one pops up on eBay, but pretty rare these days

Years ago i took exhaust off. Collector box i ground out what i could. Link pipe is un restricted and Tri Oval can. Good enough for me,full Cyclone system obviously superior but over 2G so i stick with what i have.I also like to keep centrestand.
