Rear shocks are shite it seems to be just on the springs so recomdations please

The rear suspension does not so much lock up, as the adjusters seize. Getting them rebuilt, especially now, can be an issue as even when they were in production, getting spares such as seals etc was an issue. Most people replace the standard shocks with aftermarket, Hagon Nitro's being the popular option, also YSS, but if you have a few quid squirreled away then more expensive shocks such as Ohlins or Nitron also work well.

If you want o get them re-built, then Maxtons used to offer this service quite reasonably, but whether they do now, I have no idea, you'd have to enquire https://www.maxtonsuspension.co.uk/

Have a look at the Suspension sub-section of "technically Speaking" as there are a few threads on there regards shocks and what one can do to free them off and re-build them - depends though with much of it how confident you are and what tools you have - or can make - to do a shock rebuild.
