Hello everyone, I am a new member and back to biking, I am buying a 2003 Suzuki GSX 1400 which has been very well looked after with only 15K miles.
It looks amazing with standard pipes, I'll probably store it during winter but having said that once I get it home I'll be keen to go out for a ride on it.
Cheers everyone and safe riding. Johnny
Gidday Johnny, welcome to the forum. I'm sure there'll be many miles of smiles once you get your 'new' machine.
Here is a link to a useful list of checks for new bike owners, have a read through.

I think I will welcome you with a Mad Max line, "Johnny the Boys' done it again, with a scrubber this time".
Congratulations on owning the last old school muscle bike available.
Hi Johnny, glad to hear you bought a K3 in B&W I take it, the best colours and best design ... just like mine :hat:
Hopefully you'll get a few good days to enjoy your new bike, you'll never regret buying it :boogie2:

Quote from: JohnnyQ on Saturday, 21 October 2023, 05:29 AMMay I just ask, I have been away from biking for some time, many of my non biking friends say and putting it politely saying I'm not the right age to get back into biking as I'm 68yrs old. I last rode a gs1000 twenty yrs ago. I feel that I'm fine for biking. I have a chance of a beautiful 2003 GSX 1400 in prestige condition with low mileage 16k miles for £5000. Comments please.
same age as I am - go for it - enjoy life :)
Same here, 68. My hips get cramps sometimes but thats it.Starting again will take a while, youll be right. 👍
Ya probably younger than half of this lot.
Hello, younger than me anyway, take it steady at first and you will be fine . After a few decent rides you will wonder why you ever had any doubts. Welcome and enjoy it. Any info you need is in here so just need to look in the forums and ask questions.
Pah, age is just a number, if you feel up to it then go for it, make new friends.
It's not like you have to ride, you're doing it because you want to & for enjoyment, there's a big difference, as us oldies know. Get into it and have a ball, it'll take a while to hone the skills back up, but where there's a want there's a way. Just have fun doing it. :onya:
Can I suggest a refresher course with a suitably qualified riding school 🙏
Brakes & horsepower have changed a lot on motorcycles since your last experience.
As long as you can get your leg over you will be fine, just take it easy until you get used to it.
Welcome.
I know you are going to enjoy the GSX (same model, year and colour as my own), perhaps a bit late in the year to get the best out of it but you're going to love next spring...
Pete.
Welcome Johnny, enjoy the ride :hat:
