Did the Coromandel Loop today with the 'Bay of Plenty BMW Owners Club' a top bunch of blokes that are now welcoming riders of other brands to join them on their rides. After all we are all bike riders and enthusiasts. They ride nice as a group and certainly don't hang around. I did 420kms door to door. The Coro Loop is a fantastic ride with lots of tight twisting corners and some quite fast sections, just a bit of everything.
Started in Tauranga out through Katikati and up the East Coast through Whangamata then on to Tairua for a coffee and pit stop. On to Whitianga continuing up the east coast through Matarangi, Kuaotunu, Whangapoua then over the hill and drop down into Coromandel Town for lunch. From there we travel down the western side of the Coromandel Peninsula to Thames. The road can be really tight much of it along the waters edge of the Firth of Thames. Comes out in Paeroa, more nice roads to Te Aroha then I left the ride with a mate of mine that lives on the same road as I. The remainder of the guys went for a debrief (beer) at a pub nearby. I think there were ten on the ride. It was a most enjoyable day. The photo is of a road we use as a shortcut, but not today. To be fair the sign did say "Road Closed" the sign beside that one said "Residents Only" that's us !! Looks like it will be shut for a while.
The Pothole !!

That's nasty!! Looks like one of the guys got round the edge.
You're starting to sound like yanks now, "everything's bigger in America" or in your case New Zealand. :whistling:
Yes they did Col. Some things i dont rate the 14 good at, one of them is a trials bike.
That slip was deep, it went long way down to a stream. Saw quite a few big slips where half the road had gone downhill.
