Title: Weight
Post by: grog on Saturday, 14 October 2023, 05:00 PM
Just checking today. 14 is supposed to be a huge heavy bike in every report i read. 228 kg dry. Having a look today, surprised by some others. Z1 Kawa, T120 Triumph, W800 Kawa, all about same. Goldwing 160 more, doubt i could push that around the shed.

Still feels light compared to the German battleship that is my K1300GT.

Yeah Eric, when i had two weeks on Rocket, 14 was a baby after. Think over 30 more than your BMW.

My Honda ST1100 is 297kg but it feels lighter than the 14, easier to throw leg over and easier to put on centre stand.

My BMW R1200RT is 229kg dry apparently but both bikes are still easily manageable around the garage and riding for me 🙏🙏🤞🤞 hopefully for a long time too.

255kg dry for the bmw k1300gt, feels more than 30kg heavier than the 1400, like easily 50kgs plus.

A mate used to have a Yamaha V Max..
It felt like a lump of Granite when I rode it!
I looked up the weight and was VERY shocked to read they are 310kgs !!!

7kg lighter than my HD!

Having looked that up I see they are listing at almost £18k this year, getting mine for £14k seems an even better deal now. Just wish I could get it home.

I think its the shear size of the 14 that makes them feal heavy !!!  compared to my zed1200 ive just built the zed feels like a 250 when i move it around.

Our other bike is a W650 Kawasaki, I'm surprised to hear the W800 would be the same weight as the 14.
The 14 becomes a big girl with nearly 24 litre of fuel on board that's for sure.

Col, i was surprised by W800 weight. Some sites say 224, some 217, either way, heavy for a smaller bike. 228 on 14, all dry weights.

Yeah that W800 is heavy, W650 claimed to be 195kg, i thought the 800 just had marginally bigger pots. Havn't ridden the 650 for a while but it sure feels nimble compared to the 1400.
