Picked the bike up today from Steve Jordan where it had Yoshi cams and Hyperpro fork springs fitted. 100 mile ride home which was mostly motorway but the thing feels like there is no end to the pull and I can't wait to give it a proper workout.
Steve also set the suspension up for my weight and its a vast improvement. I've got Hagon Nitros on the rear and spoke about a future upgrade, he advised something like the Nitron R1 or KTech Razorlite, and the piggyback R3 or Razor was a bit overkill and not needed. Anyway I'll see how it feels for the rest of the year and may treat it next spring.
I had a great experience with the team there and certainly 100% better than the place in Bristol.
Bike has a full Akra and is doing 131bhp at the rear wheel and nearly 100 torques.
NICE :wheelie:
I've got a full Akra, skimmed and gas flowed head and a PC-III ... mine was chucking out 125bhp at the rear with 98.7 torque.
I'm quite surprised that the cams didn't give you much more than I had, but I'm not an engine expert and don't know how much they were expected to give ... but yes the extra power is fantastic :boogie2:
I did have a set of Yoshi cams but never got around to fitting them and eventually sold them a few years back.
My newly rebuilt Nitro's (well actually brand new with old springs) are due to be delivered on Monday. It'd be interesting to know what weight you are and what settings were used.
Enjoy
All the best ... Barry

100kg with all kit on solo only riding
Preload - 34mm thread
Static sag - 12mm
Rebound - 8 clicks out
That must be a very firm ride 🧐
The extra power is needed ? Or it's just nice to have ?
My mod's from 2001 was Yoshi headers & muffler. 149,000 kms still feels good.

Ah brilliant ... I started off about 13.5st (85kg) but over the years it's crept up and then due to ill health it went mental peaking at 18.5st (117kg) while in hospital ... now slowly reducing and down to 15st 10lb (100kg) about the same as you, minus my jacket :clapping:
Will try these settings out when my shocks arrive on Monday, oh and in about four months time when I've rebuilt the bike :happy1:
Mucho appreciated ... Barry

I found the Nitro springs pretty hard compared to stock but the bike handled superbly, well with my limited skills!
Is the extra power actually needed, well you could argue no ... but it's soooooooooo much more fun and the extra growl with individual pod filters is even better (smiling just thinking about it) :hat:
My K3 engine (in the K4 at the moment) has done around 103k miles (just under 166k km), had been lying at the back of the garage for seven years before I dug the bike out and tried starting it ... after a minute or two it started but only running on two due to broken wire on one of the coils ... one sorted wire later and it's pulling as strong as it ever did :notworthy:
All the best ... Barry
The GSX1400 is a great torquey bike and there is certainly no NEED for Yoshi cams.
I rarely have my bike in the rev range where it goes like a scalded cat (6K) but on the rare occasions i do Fuck me dead... nice.
I am a bit worried about keeping my licence when I do pulls like that though.

thats the problem with a big powerful bike, its a shame not to use the power its got but it can get you into trouble !!!!!! like my double white line issue
I only had them fitted because they came with the bike, if they hadn't I'm not sure I would have bought a set but you never know.
Very occasionally I feel like a 14 would be nicer with these, the topend feels like it wants to give more. But considering all the work and cost involved I'll stick to how mine is as Grumpy's dyno showed 123bhp/97lb/ft a few* miles ago when mapped it up for me. That's just an Akra on a standard lump.
*from memory about 17k miles on the clock at the time.
I fitted yoshi cams to my k6 years ago and although i ride it much like i did before and very really flatout( on an autobhan fighting above160mph) the cams do improve the bike everywhere across the rev range .
Flat out isnt great but in lower gears wow its amazing .
136rwbhp and 102flb torque.
Still go touring on it and get 200+ miles if needed but it will hussle if needed too.
I think the cams make the bike what it always should have been .
All that said i have a totally standard k5 that i enjoy just as much lol
I wish we had an autobahn to play on!
You do, it's called the Nullabor, get into that!
Or near Tony Nitrous's place...or anywhere in regional WA
Had a good ride out today and it's bloody mad, just pulls so hard without feeling like it will stop especially in 3rd and 4th, it's insane for a bike that size and I love it.
Dont really understand the need to do lots of Trickery to The 14 my Standard one makes 148.64bhp and i am more than happy with that :onya:
Yeah Geordi, standard, straight out of the crate. :rofl2:
Yeah totally stock figures that

most of the time manufactures quote H.P. from the crank as it makes it look more powerful !!!!!! but theirs no way a standard 1400 kicks out anywhere near 148hp
Big Geordi's bike is definitely NOT a stocker, he's winding you up. :onya: :clapping:

I dont care what the hell my bike produces..
I just know I love her personality the way she is !!
You sucked that lot in Geordi :hat:
Both of mine are standard, and I can't use all of the 100 h.p.
Yeah but Autobahns have fewer skippys to fuck your day right up.
