Hello all,
I've been a reader of the site for a while but finally signed up last week. My name is Russ. I'm from South Wales and I'm 65. I've been riding bikes since I was about 15 and I've had my GSX1400 for over 10 years. I've loved riding it but unfortunately my wrists have gone from years working in the steel works. It breaks my heart, but it's time to sell it. I don't want to see it just sitting there in the garage not being ridden. Anyway, I'm happy to be here on the forums and thanks for reading.
Hi
Would taller handlebars make for less weight on your wrists, maybe ?
I'm not talking about style because it might make the bike look strange, but if it would relieve the pressure on your joints it could be that you could still enjoy your bike ?

yes Joseph, its what I did to mine, only slightly higher than standard but it helps with my R.A.
:welcome1:
Sad news if you can no longer ride it but as a thought.
Z1300 handle bars might do the trick
Gidday Russ, welcome aboard (finally) Bar risers and / or different bars would definitely help.
Welcome to the forum Russ, sad to hear about your news ... as mentioned by a few people a different set of bars could make a huge difference and would be a relatively cheap experiment.
It's something we'll all probably face as we get older, I'm only 57 but already suffer from aching hands once in a while as I'm riding.
Luckily I don't need to travel to/from work anymore, I look back and don't know how I managed all those years riding through the winters for work.
I got my first 14 back in 2004, a K3 with a destroyed front end (about to be put back on road) and haven't looked at another bike since, apart from more 14s.
All the best ... Barry
G'day and welcome to the nuthouse Russ. It's unfortunate you're having wrist issues I guess it is more about comfort.
The aesthetics of higher handle bars is negligible, unless you go the "Ape hanger" route 😂
Welcome Russ. New bars or risers worth a shot
Welcome to the forum Russ. :onya: I bet you're only selling cos of the 20mph speed limit imposed on you by the tit in power :whistling:
Welcome :)
Welcome and all the best with whichever route you decide to pursue.
Experimenting with the bars should be inexpensive and certainly worth a shot if you otherwise enjoy the bike or motorcycling in general.
Getting older is no fun, I get differing discomforts on my various bikes these days and on a "tour" I'm finding that I'm reducing the daily milage a bit.
Not prepared to give it up yet though...
Hi and welcome
Welcome :)
