Title: Major Service Items
Post by: VladTepes on Thursday, 16 March 2017, 12:29 PM
I did ask a similar question on the old org but, well....

My bike was last serviced at 102,000kms (minor service) and in another few thousand k's (108,000) will be due for a major service.(i.e. 6,000ks service interval)

Looking at the service schedule in the manual it shows various things to be done at various intervals, as opposed to  "all these things to be done at X kms on the odometer)

Really I need a list of all the things that should be done/covered at a major service for these kilometres.

Naturally I don't want to overlook anything, but by the same token there may be some places where I can save money (for example I won't need brakes looked at, aside perhaps from new fluid) as they were totally rebuilt a few years back (4 pots)

Also anything else (not usually covered in a service) that I should be checking ?

Thanks

Change your front fork oil, from memory not mentioned in any service schedule. I did mine every 2 years irrespective, as it just went yucky.
Only other item I would consider is a good grease up, maybe have the swingarm out and put in fresh grease. A good thing here would be to have it tapped whilst out and grease nipples fitted either side.
Maybe also check your sprocket carrier bearing. Carefully prise out the dust seal, clean and grease it, amazing how much crap gets in there.
You might also want to check /reset your TPS before balancing the injectors.
All other items are in the schedule.
