Hi all
Does anyone have a clear step by step guide, or video on how to remove the engine? From start to finish, got about as far as taking the tank off and already daunted ha.
But yeah any help would be appreciated
Have a look at some of froudys posts he took his engine out and had the frame powder coated. He dropped the bike on its side and let the engine fall out, seems like a good way if you are on your own.
Following the manual I'm up to removing the exhaust and these bolts are seized trying to get them off without stripping them
Well bollox, it was going so well, the bolt that holds the exhaust onto the bottom of the bike has sheared, any tips for removing it? Ha

Sorry to keep adding to this, how the hell do I get the exhaust headers out of the block, it's all unbolted no problem, got the two side ones out but can't get the middle two. Am I missing something or is it just a case of pull harder?

if you have all 8 header bolts out and all the mounting bolts out then the headers have seized in the exhaust ports. try rocking the headers up and down to free them off first.

As above, they can get pretty sticky sometimes!
With regards engine out, I feel your pain, I'll be having to do this quite soon, possibly with two bikes and a fecked heart. The other method I've used is to chock the engine up, then basically strip everything off the bike (front/back ends), finally unbolt the engine and lift the frame off.
One of the bikes I'm working on has been sitting at the back of the garage for the last seven years, so it'll be interesting trying to get the header bolts out!

Yeah this has been sitting for a few years, but the header bolts actually came out with no problem, I have a Jack so I think that's my plan. Strip it down and put the Jack underneath as I undo it from the frame.
I wish I knew enough about engines to give it a look over to see if everything's good or worn but going to take it to a garage and then get it cleaned up and powder coated I think
When I rebuilt my xjr1300 I used a jack and block of wood under the engine to get it out, and back in actually. If I was doing it again I'd get it out using the jack, but back in I think I'd lay the engine down and put the frame onto it.
