Title: Knackered lower fork leg ?
Post by: Speedy1959 on Tuesday, 22 August 2023, 11:13 PM
No don't panic!
Mine is fine.
I would like a knackered lower fork leg to experiment on.
I wouldn't mind a fork oil drain bolt fitted but need to know how much meat there is on the bottom area of a fork leg.
The point being is if it's easy to change fork oil then it would be done FAR more often and the sludge and crap wouldn't build up.
So any knackered lower for legs lying around?

IMO speedy I thinks its a waist of time, its much better to completely strip the forks and everything can be washed out, including the damper rod that retains a certain amount of oil, the oil just doesn't drain from the damper rod you have to pump it out, you can also check bushes for wear and fit new seals then you know the forks are right.  :onya:

Thanks Hard Road.
To be honest I was thinking your thoughts.
You have confirmed my suspicions.
Thanks again.
