I don't know about you but I don't really want to live in a cashless society, look at what happened to the Canadian truckers. Now some banks are setting a limit on how much you want to spend. I don't have any account details on my phone so prefer cash for coffee, lunch, ice cream etc. If you think this is wrong sign the petition at GB news.

Done :onya:
Done here too.
Sod cashless, it's just backdoor tracking everything you ever do. I refuse to shop in card only places, but I'll place my order etc first before* I notice it's card only so they waste produce.

I concur 👍

happy with cashless :)
I signed up to the GB news "keep cash" poll (Now 250,000 strong)..
Hooli if you thing the phasing out of cash is insidious, then google "Smart meter agenda" !!!
Bit late for cash only. Yeah, i keep a few bucks for pies, golf bets, not much else. They know our every move, doesnt worry me. What does worry, one day you log on, all gone. I really would like a passbook bank account for my major money. Not sure that is available but gonna look into it. I signed but will not achieve anything. Smart meter, yeah, my solar came with China link, took me forever to stop them hassling me to join up. Kept over riding my WiFi,eventually gone. GPS connected to whatever, phone, car, bikes, they collect.
Notty, was quite incredible how i payed you with cash for your parts, all the way from opposite side of the world.
Moving to a no cash system (with no physical currency option available) is an easy step on teh way to government control of what, where and when you can spend your own money on.
They already do it in China, if you are not in favour they can stop you buying certain items, like bikes

Exactly - they have a social credit system where if you do things they deem as 'not in line with correct behaviour' then they restrict travel, spending on certain things, access to jobs, etc. Dodgy AF.
Went to grab a couple of plants last week, local farm garden store, sorry no card machine / no EFPOS.
Booked the dog into the vets tomorrow. Sorry no cards / EFPOS, can you bring cash?
If you have a stash Tony, all good. Otherwise your nearest ATM? My life is pretty boring, dont really care if they follow my card payments. Wont learn much. Does worry me my stored money could disappear, wouldnt mind a passbook account, not available around here.

Cash is King amongst a lot of folk I deal with, builders, bikes and spares etc etc. The only way I got my last place renovated with a shortage of tradies, and can't take plastic to a swap meet, local veggie stall etc either. The vet and Farm supplier are not a drama as they both know me well and get a lot of business through me. Around here building a shed, dams, driveways, getting paddocks slashed, fences done, buying logs, buying used machinery there's always a cash price and a shorter queue. Just the way it is.
