Hi all, K5 70000km on the clock.
1st gear on the box clutch in revs up and the bike moves foraward.
I opened the cap and i found some stuck clutch plates.
acording to the manual plates are ok springs are ok too.
My thought is to clean them up and put it back.
Should i replaced them with OEM?
Has anyone tried the EBC set?
Thanks.
No expert, clean them, put it back together. Change your clutch fluid, clean out the slave, prob full of crap. Not much else needed.
Aye I'd suspect a sticky slave making the clutch slip too.
For reference, my 14 is on almost 170,000 miles with the original untouched clutch.
Everything cleaned, push rod, slave, new fluid
I ll put it back and see how it goes.
170000 miles Man ??
Hooli's 1400 is just run in too

Yeah I try not to use it too much in case I wear it out!
they should be fine, but worth measuring the plates if you get them out, and OEM plates are the best to use.
Of course I could open the other tin of worms...
What oil is in it? needs to be bike oil to prevent clutch slip, car oil has extra friction reducers in which affect wet clutches.
Mine is 21 yo 145,000 kms & never looked at clutch. I've abused it doing many wheelies etc hard down shifts. It would be very rare they need replacement.
If the clutch is dragging ( driving slightly when disengaged,Lever in) I would be looking for air in the hydraulic system, not giving you full travel. Incorrect engine oil, possibly to High a viscosity or oil degraded to the point of sludge or warped drive or driven plates, pretty rare for steels to give trouble in this way,you are looking for something that has decreased the disengaged clearance between the plates . As has been indicated the clutch on these bikes is pretty robust
Oh take note of the order of the plates too. I believe the thicknesses vary & they have to go in the correct order or it won't work properly.

dunno about that, the last plate is offset by one tooth in the housing. check the manual. Otherwise you can install whichever plate where you want. It is important to maintain the correct steel and friction plate sequence.
I put everything back. Bike runs perfect.
GSX clutch is too hard to die.
Thank you all guys!!

Yes. First friction plate is slightly different. I cant recall if its either thicker or thinner than the others.
