10 Years today since they decided to throw my prostate in the bucket, they were actually Docs words. Im still here so they mustve done something right. A bit of things different but nothing i cant deal with. So my advice is , get checked please. Might add a few more ks on your speedo, has mine. None of the tests are really hard, seem daunting but not really. Operation has a few steps after, again, if i can do it. Just gotta get motivated, tick off the boxes. Get checked Fellas. I know its a bike forum but, cant ride if your sick. Hope this helps someone.
Good on you @Grog so many deny the symptoms & suffered the consequences
More men die of prostate cancer than women from breast cancer in Australia
Awareness is very important I'm a big supporter of Distinguished Gentleman's Ride
Waiting for laser surgery , 2 years apparently as mine is clear of cancer and just enlarged(nothing else enlarged). Asked surgeon will I be able to piss like I was 18 again? he said yes but side effects are no ejaculation :bugga: :bugga: :bugga: :bugga:
Good on you Grog! Im in a similar position... had mine removed some 8 years ago (by robotic surgery no less!)... and healthy to so far with no additional follow up needed so far.
Totally agree with you... would really encourage everyone to get checked from 55 onwards... its not only an 'older gentlemans' condition! While the stats say that most men die with prostate cancer (not because of it) its far better to catch it as early as possible to prevent all the 'side effects' that come with it!
I totally agree. The NHS has given me the options of free check ups , I've done the poo stick for bowel cancer (all clear), a camera up me jacksy to remove polyps (all clear) . Last year discovered two lumps , one on each nut had a test turned out to be gristle. Point is you're only here once , take the tests so you can ride for longer, you don't want that road that says DEAD END.

Doc told me its done digitally - I thought wow how computing has come on ! then doc put a rubber glove on (no studsCol ) and I thought bugger got that wrong didn't I :rofl2:
At least the glove clears your clinker up too, so ya arse doesn't itch afterwards.
The digit is easy, its the biopsy one you dont want. Out of 20 people i was only one done awake, recod by specialist. He needs a bullet.Worst thing that has ever happened to me, so bloody scary, still freaks me out. If you need biopsy, get knocked out. Horror movie awake, has to be done but get put to sleep. Everything else far easier. Shouldnt go on but am. I had 15 needles fired thru my arse into prostate, awake in a theatre, wasnt fair to be told to do awake. Sorry to be graphic but hope helps someone. Upside was, we had a 800k ride that weekend, 4 days later, was for my birthday. Was worried but wasnt a problem. :)
