Title: Help, need new engine GSX 1400 model 2005
Post by: Pitkatukka on Sunday, 11 June 2023, 05:29 AM
Hello to my fellow mates!

My bike has died! Sadly in last spring i taked few hundred km with my bike and i heard some different side noise in the engine. I wasn't too worried about it because it was so little noise, compared my last bike Harley which had more and noisier side noises and still were running. But i had one nice full throttle and change 2. gear to 3. gear and then my worst fear comes to alive. There were one big loud noise and the air was filled with metal parts from my bikes engine and whole street were full of my bikes engine oil. I think there were the chain on top of each other and my 3. cyl connecting rod came out to see whats up in the world  I havent open it up yeat because i havent found any engines at reasonable price, i found one in France but the shipping costs were almost more than the engine.

So if you have one engine laying useless in you carage i would love to get it in Finland and give my precious a new life and second becoming to be the queen of highways again, that she deserves to be!

Much love and safety in your journey for this riding seasons brothers and sisters! Take care!

Congratulations, you're the first person I've heard of blowing up a 14.

Yeah,

That was main reason that i couldnt find anywhere anything bad on this engine. It is very certain engine.

Last owner told me that it has powercommander and changed exhaus and it has been adjusted in dyno. And the big maintance is done.

You can imagine my surprise when the air was filled with Oil and metal from my bike... that was last time when i trust someones words about servicing. From now i will do engine check in every bike that i buy. This was really stubid because i have 10 years background from meachanic work. I was too blue eyed, again.

What mileage on your motor? Such bad luck, unheard of.

To the OP
What a brilliant (poetic) description of your engines last breath..
Not that it helps you, I just thought very well written and universally understood.

I'd be really interested to know what let go and why.
(Rod, little end, big end?)
They are so over engineered.
Even abused ones, high mileage ones or those running boost seem to take it.

Agree Tony, theres a rat 14 somewhere near here, totally neglected, doubt its had an oil change, doubt owner has ever had a shower. It shows 180 th ks, sounds perfect in motor noise and he flogs it. Rustiest chain ive ever seen.
