3M do a clear vinyl type kit that saves the paint work .
Both sides of the front of tank
Both sides of the sides of the tank(where your knees touch)
Centre of the rear of the tank (we added a tank pad too)
Front tip of the front mudguard (4" of the front)
Headlight (we didnt fit this)
All on Emma's custom paint work about 10 years ago and its done its job the paint or the film kit has no stone chips and the film hasnt faded or gone cloudy.

When I got my bike it had immaculate front forks. Not a single stone chip nor any alloy corrosion whatsoever.
I think it was Barmy who recommended "Helicopter Tape" made by 3M when I had my previous Black/Red GSX1400..
My forks were fairly corroded on that bike so I ended up not using the tape.

On this one I removed the front wheel / Mudguard, the rotated the forks outwards, and thoroughly cleaned and degreased with rubbing alchohol. Then marked the tape as to where to cut it before removing the backin strip.. Its VERY sticky so do NOT remove all the backing at once!
Ideally you need to align it accurately first time, then roll it down gradually whilst smoothing out the air bubbles.

It does its job excellently..
Many a time I have come back from a ride and its covered in insects and the odd ding from a stone.. After a clean the forks and tape are as good as new..
This is what I used.. Originally the 50mm wide x 1 metre. Thats just wide enough..
I am thinking of redoing it in the 75mm x 1 metre as there have been some scuff "ricochets" just outdide the tape area. Not penetrated the fork coating but definitely marked it..
Below is what I used:

Hard Road, just go to local wrap shop, get couple of black panels for either tank side. Works well, lasts well. They have off cuts, pretty much free. I did my front guard because of stone chips. IMG_2209.jpeg

If you're doing all that, then add some where your ankles are as that part of the frame always turns grey as the paint is worn off on well used bikes.
