Title: Original PAIR valve cover mod
Post by: Speedy1959 on Wednesday, 24 May 2023, 05:09 AM
Hi All,
About a week ago when I was trouble shooting sophies "upset Stomach" (Rich uneven running at low speed) I noticed one of the rubber bungs fitted over the original PAIR valve cover outlet was starting to perish and get fine cracks in it.
It wasnt actually leaking (Yet) but it was on its way out.
So I got a friend to use a M10 (fine) Tap into the holes of the cover outlet (Photo)..
My Idea was to get M10 Black Dome head allen bolts so overall it would look a tad more "standard".
Yes I know its only cosmetic but I am pretty happy with the outcome.
My friend said that technically the hole at 9.7mm was just a bit too too large for an M10 TAP!!
I asked him to go ahead anyway as I intended to use Locktite Permanent and no one would be swinging on it.
It all worked out very well.
I got the Black bolts from ProBolt  (https://www.pro-bolt.com/aluminium-dome-head-bolt-m10x1-25mmx25mm/)
Lovelly quality and they came with washers which I wasnt expecting.
I know it can hardly be seen but I know its there  :P

Nice mod @Speedy1959 , but already previously covered (sorry - although the pictures showing the finished article are excellent!) - option 2 in the first entry in this sticky https://gsx1400owners.org/forum/index.php?topic=310.0

(Note: I've modified that link to point to this one, given it shows what can be achieved)
