Hi All, new to group and just bought my first 14, here in Australia, have read what oils are suitable, but what engine oil do you use?

There was a fantastic write up by Grog in the Old Forum comparing oils. He and sweaty gave advice I started off with Sweaty's. Best thing I did for my bike. Won't touch Motul again and am slapping myself for using it for so long.

I use Gulf Western SYN-X 3000 10W-40.  Cheap as chips at Repco (additional 10% for RACQ etc members) and it works just fine thanks very much :)

i still have synnex in mine. best gear change ive ever had. have spoken to gulf western people, assure me its best quality. yeah, its cheap also not that comes into my choice. would pay for whatever is best. my 2nd choice is penrite, saw it today at repco, some stupid price for 6 litres. so cheap. diesel oil would also be a great choice. once worked for rental car fleet, used delvac diesel oil in every car, over 2 thou. cars. has lots of detergent, keeps it very clean inside motor. someone on here or old forum, not sure, paid $150 for enough Motul for an oil change on 14. either rich or just stupid.

Not rich thats for sure but yep paid over $150 for Motul 300V. It didnt make the gearbox any nicer. Now using Gulf Western  Syn-X 3000 10/40. and am well happy with it. In no hurry to buy Motul again. Not stupid either ...... now !!
