Title: ANZAC Day
Post by: GSXKING on Tuesday, 25 April 2023, 12:25 PM
Lest we forget 🙏🙏 today is ANZAC Day inspired by actions of troops sent to the wrong place at the wrong time by incompetent Generals. In spite of this massive stuff up ANZACS persevered & a legend was born.
They thought it was an adventure & it turned in to HELL. May we never have to deal with what they endured.
Lest we forget.
🙏🙏🙏

Anzac Day, a big day in the history
of both Australia and New Zealand. A young lady from a local college sang firstly the Australian National Anthem followed by both the English and Maori versions of the New Zealand National Anthem. She sang so beautifully. When she finished you could have heard a pin drop. In that moment of sustained silence there was a deep respect for the occasion.....so rarely is it shown these days. Hard reality.
Lest we Forget.

Many battles re fought today at the bar. Total respect for the day and the effort by our forces. Huge crowds at my local Dawn Service then the service at RSL. Im really proud/happy the younger people embrace the day. My 10 year old Granddaughter marched. The trouble makers we have should be made to participate, talk to soldiers, listen, might shake them up a bit. Teach respect.

As every year I went to the Redcliffe Dawn Service.  Usually weather is perfect but this year it was really windy, but the rain had stopped which was great.

Despite the inclement weather the crowd was, as always, huge.

There's a bloke from Redcliffe some of you may have heard of if you are local  - Rupert McCall - a poet, author, speaker and Dolphins fan.

He writes a poem every year for the Redcliffe Dawn Service and this year he read a poem he'd written directed to young people and also used in schools.
