Sam, that's a K2 paint scheme...
Quote from: T250 on Sunday, 02 April 2023, 11:03 PMSam, that's a K2 paint scheme...
I know it is . 03 plate Its a cat N in 2017 so could be a new tank but as its scrapped where it was dropped it could be a leftover 2002 maybe? :clapping:
Aye looks K3 to me, with the wrong tank.
Matt side panels, K2 had gloss.
No cut out on the slivery covers on the end of the fuel rail, those will be plastic. K2 were monkey metal & had a semi-circular cut out for the end of the fuel rail.
Bet you've got a hazard light switch, not a light switch too.
/Anorak off
Anorak off ??? Or just unzipped slightly. :coffeescreen:
D.D.
I didn't even mention the K2 had ball bearings for the steering stem & K3 onwards have roller bearings either. Although you can retrofit the rollers that last a lot longer to a K2.
You forgot the colour of the grabrail should be white?
Meh, people can paint bits the wrong colour on any year of bike :stir:
Also rear hangers were polished as standard on the K2's, they got the matt aluminium K3 onwards.
It should be noted though that the K2/K3 switch over was a little hazy as the changes they made were effected according to what was in the parts bin - so at the point of swap over there were a few months where some K2's had what we see as K3 parts fitted, purely because the supply of those K2 parts - possibly the side panels and rear hangers for the K2 - had all been utilised, so they fitted K3 parts instead. And in fact some very early K3's did have K2 tanks fitted.
I suppose the deciding factor will be whether there is a hazard light switch on the RH switch gear. If so its K3, if not its a K2 (as the hazard light switch was fitted as standard to all K3's)
Good description . Yep got a hazard switch k2 or k3 lets just hope it is parts bin and not fit for the bin then . Not got the parts yet so will have to give it a couple more days to get them. I will call my mechanic and book it in also get a small mortgage ready to pay for it :whatever: :cry2:
Ok guys decided to give bike to my mechanic to sort out as i cba with getting hands dirty anymore( just means wife has to do one extra shift to pay for it :rofl2: )
All parts on the way so hopefully be back on the road next week. Woohoo
Mind you it did ride well when taking it there felt better than the bandit and as comfy as the vstrom no pings or pangs so hopefully be good to go.
Roll on :boogie:
:cruisin: Only one person needs to be happy with it.
Can't wait to see it when it comes back.
D.D.
Popped in to see my mechhanic today and thought i would check rear shock adjusters cant turn dials on right side so thats an9tyer 360 squid on hew ones :clapping: :clapping: :boogie2: :frustrated: :frustrated:
This could save you money my old potato.
D.D.
@sam61 you mean the rear preload adjuster right? Easy fix. These shocks are serviceable. All you need is a set of spring compressors and basic hand tools. No need to release gas and oil etc if only rebuilding the preload adjuster. They get full of road grime, just need a clean out and repacking with new grease, but you need to remove the spring to disassemble them. As DD says, will save you some coin.

All parts in and starting on it today. Hopefully have it for the weekend
Sam, just keep at it. I dont pretend to know much but in 11 yrs, this Org and old one have helped me lots on knowing my bike. Some very clever people. Ive put a lot of advice into action, reckon my 14 would ride as good as anyones, i find it an amazing motorcycle and ive had a few. Takes a while but worth it.
You'll be right, Sam61, have a go, and be safe in the knowledge that the collective wisdom on here will help you out (or at least you will provide some discussion points). This place is a great source of info and knowledge.

You're right there with the wisdom thingy I've never known so many knowledgeable bikers in one group unlike all the bandit ones I'm in this place is a god send. Roll on the weekend when it's all ready(maybe) :cry2:
Is it finished yet?
Its done :boogie: picked it up last night and its up and running like a goodun. mechanic didnt charge me the earth for it which makes it even better. :boogie2:

Your fuel bloody expensive. Just worked out 22 litre refill 21 pounds.

Yes, regularly grazing thirty quid before you get off the forecourt these days. It is coming down slightly but there are big regional differences even in the UK.
Recently I got diesel for 15p per litre less in Devon than I was being charged in the West Midlands - some retailers are taking advantage.
(The diesel did not go in the bike BTW  )
Some places in South Wales are 10p cheaper than around Bristol, someone is definitely taking the piss.
Just to add a Kiwi perspective to this, I had to go back over the hill last week to Christchurch, took the Merc. Diesel here in Westport was $2.54 per Litre before I left, I didn't get any as I had enough to get over there. In Chc the next day, filled up, $1.71 per Litre That's a difference of 83c / L! :furious: and they say buy local, yeah right, then why you ripping us off so much?
We have a waitrose in town dont you know wot wot.means they can charge more around here :cry2:
Done a good 140 mile round trip today finished on two bars so not bad for a first run and it went like a goodun so smooth and comfy. Suffolk classic bike show was Crap though
Organised chaos at its best

I had 40 years in the UK. The weather was one factor in getting out. I've seen 2 frosts in the last 19 years since I left.
It's mid Autumn here...

I hope you are filling up the bird bath and leaving a dish on the floor for the little critters.

Not normally. Neighbours either side of me have dams and away from my house I have a spring / creek. We try not to encourage wildlife around the house, we get way to much as it is. Bird life here is wonderful, from Rosella's and Black Cockatoo's up to Wedgetail Eagles, but I try not to encourage the resident Magpies, Kookaburras etc around the house, every crap they take on my house or shed roofs gos straight into my drinking water!
