Well, that's the plan anyway.
Make sure you know your password so you can log back in, post the upgrade.
Outage will likely be a couple of hours.
Once upgraded forum is open again, some features may not work straightaway but will gradually come on line as I reinstall them.
If you have trouble logging back in when it reopens, keep an eye on the front page here (you don't need to be logged in to see it) : https://gsx1400owners.org/forum/index.php
and also I will update the facebook page for those who look there.
I'll let you all know if anything changes.
Update - currently aiming for Thursday 16 March

Is this the NEW LOOK @Vladtepes ?
Working for me, such a genius Vlad, all praise. So bloody clever. :notworthy:
Oh it's very bloooooooooooo
Nice one Vlad
Quick question, there's no like button or have I missed it?
Looks Great from Dibley Towers, Nice one Mate.
Assuming bits and bobs like the like button and peoples country of origin flags are to come.
D.D.
The like button is there, its a native part of the new software. Just under the post and above signature.
Either you've sneaked that in, or I was half blind earlier.
Thanks either way.
LOL It wasn't there Hooli, but now it is. :coffeescreen:

While that's true - the credit belongs largely to lesmond - a great friend of the forum - who was instrumental in
1. Designing the new theme; and
2. Handling the tricky parts of the changeover to the new version of the software, which involved some database stuff a bit beyond my (imaginary) 'pay grade'.

I had considered just doing it in black but on this forum imagine the complaints from the blue and blue/white brigade! :rofl2: :whistling:

like is back.
Country flags is a problem - its not compatible with the new software, or at least not yet. Perhaps in due course.
Other bits and bobs, yep.
You'll all probably note some things not there or working as expected - do let me know if anything crops up, so I can attend to it. :) :onya:

Just deeper colouring than I'm used too, nothing else. It's fine to read & stuff so it's all good.
I like how the red bits are at the top, so they don't have as far to get down the screen being a slower colour.
Me likey :coffeescreen: :onya:
Looking good - me likie! :hat:
:onya: works for me
Think im back in 🤔
Looks good, feels good.....good job :salute:
Looks great mate
I showed it to the 1400 and it approved so all is good.
A little disappointed there's a print option and not cursive, not overly inclusive but I have calmed my inner Karen and I think I will be okay.
Great job, got a shock at how bright everything is, had to wear my shades until I got used to it.
I've just put a pic on the 'pics of your bike' thread & noticed if you insert the pic into the post, it still displays at the bottom of the post like attachments always did too.
I edited my post to remove the insert, to keep that thread tidy.
Once a picture has been uploaded it can be inserted anywhere in the post...
Click on insert then the image will be place where you have the cursor, then click post. If you just click post the image will be displayed at the bottom

How do you stop the attachments from being displayed at the bottom of the post?
D.D.
Great job Vlad

I fixed it so only a link to download the image is shown below, with just the picture in the post.
Like so

Aye but when I tried it, the pic also showed again as an attachment under the post. So it was there twice.
Also, I dunno if others are getting it but images don't always show for me on my phone. Using Firefox on android 11.

See, here it is . . .
Ironically, that one isn't showing for me either.
Yeah, you now have to insert them to make them show. Insert is an option in the attachment area. It will insert the pic where your cursor is in your text / post.
But if I insert them they show twice.
And that pic I put up there ^^ shows on my laptop but not my phone.
I put the pic into the text for you, (positioned cursor & hit insert on the attachment section) cos before all it had was a link below the text (which is still there). Links are no good to us, we want to see a pic, not have to download to our device to see it. I only get 1 pic showing Hooli.
Lesmond changed something yesterday & the pic's now only show if you insert them, else you just get a link to the pic at the bottom of the post.
So at this point is everyone happy with the way this is working or is there an error somewhere?
OK here at Dibley Manor.
The only thing..............I just noticed all my thread pics, prior to the change are not visible, and I cannot edit them back in.
Other than that...
Well done. :onya:

Yup, it's all good now. Whatever friday's fix was has done it.
Thanks chaps.
I'm a bit like both Col's I've only just learned how to manoeuvre the old ORG now I'm starting off again 🧐🧐🧐
Ive changed the theme as i didnt like the multi coloured one .
Im getting uses to how things work as im a luddite .
I think its better .
Well done as im no expert but id say it took lots of work behind the scenes.
How do ichange the theme?
I figured it out.
So who's changing the theme, via which method, and why?
If you can be as specific as possible about the reason you changed themes / what it is that isn't working for you in the new theme that'd be helpful for me so I'd really appreciate it.
I'm curious because
1. It may be necessary to refine the new theme slightly.
2. There may (probably will) be future changes which will only work in the new theme.
No biggy really Vlad, i just prefer the 2nd option. Simple Machines? Tapped my icon, then change look n layout where i did it.
Well this came as a surprise when I logged on this morning as I haven't been on for a while now.
Looking good to me and so far so good :boogie:

Quite simply we all hate change at our advanced stages 🤡🤡
Much more difficult to post a photo. Also noticed in Post Pic Of Bike, mine has gone. Was there, not now. Ill modify that, pic still on phone, not on PC.
I have noticed that once you have seen a picture it just comes up as a link, I don't like it as I often use pictures to search for things I know I have seen but now each one has to opened up from a link, me not likey, me lazy.
That's cause they've turned off the forum automatically displaying attachments, if you don't insert them into the post. After you upload the pic, put the cursor where you want the pic in the post & click insert (near the upload button) & it'll insert a link that displays the pic at that point.
My fault I guess as I pointed out that when you inserted them they still showed below the post as an attachment too.

You sorted now Mick? Hooli is correct,
upload the pic, then click the insert button :onya: & it'll put your pic wherever your cursor is in the post. Puts pic anywhere you like it.
no photos on pc, link there but doesn't work. ok on phone
See above Grog - Kiwicol
see the post above yours grog - check if it works please and let us know :)
