Hello from Dibley Towers.
I just took delivery of my second GSX1400 Yesterday, a K3 in Silver. 16100 miles.
I last owned one from new in 2002.
Looking forward to chatting and learning. :smile2:

:welcome1:
To all thing's 1402
What colour are you getting in painted (remember blue/white is the fastest option)
Welcome to the forum Dwain. :onya: Bike looks good in primer.
Welcome fella
Thanks for the warm reception Guys. :rofl2:
Think how much faster she is without all that extra paint.

what do you mean "pick"? There's only one choice: blue over white.
Just to keep everyone Happy, here is the bike I had in 2002.
I added a pair of Scorps, Renthals, a blue screen and some mini indicators.
When I sold it, I nearly ran after the guy to give him his money back. :undecided: LOL
I've wanted another one ever since.

That depends how slow you want to go :whistling:
Old people often like some black and/or red as their reactions aren't quick enough for a fast bike anymore.
Looks good, I some times ride around that way, I'll see you on the road.
Hi Dwain :mwink:
Nice addition for DD manor.
Ps. You will see some familiair names here :boogie:
The Tank has a bit of rust, I have bought some Evapo-Rust. I am hoping to leave the pump and sender in the tank, they should be OK, shouldn't they.
D.D.
I'd take the pump out, it's swirl pot is the lowest point of the tank so you'd fill the teabag with that stuff. It's only five allen bolts & the whole unit comes out.
I suppose so Hooli, it was the teabag I was worrying about, they are expensive to replace. It just makes it awkward to flip/slosh the tank about with a big hole in the bottom. I will need to seal it with something.
It will make emptying the stuff out easier. ;)
D.D.
You can get teabags for about £7 from memory, off aliexpress or something.
I think
@seth had a load he was selling off at one point?
Agreed it's a pain sealing it though. Maybe take the pump off the mount & refit the swirl pot empty? you'd only have the hose connection to seal then.
Dwain, If you decide to strip and clean out the pump (Worth doing while you are there) unit make sure you wire it up before replacing it in the tank. The white plastic clip only seems to hold once, if disturbed it tends to let go leaving you stranded, don't ask me how I know. :whistling:
When you say wire it up, do you mean the electrical connection, or actually wrapping wire around something.

Around the white plastic clip at the top. It retains the pressure relief valve but they are known to fall off after being disturbed.
Here's a picture of what
@Hooli is on about :cheers:
Welcome :)
So............I ordered a gallon of Evapo rust from my local Toolstation on Sat, for collection the next working day. that happened to be yesterday, which I spent waiting for a text to tell me it was there....No Text. Not a totally wasted day, cos I worked on the CX500.
This morning.............? No text, so I got online and checked the tracking for said item... delivered Monday at 11.30.
In van, up there, where's my stuff ?? Why no text ?? tracking says you have it !!
After 10 mins he found it on the shelf right at the front...... DOH !! Why no text ?? notifications are switched off.....I'll switch them back on.
Not good is it.??
But Hey, now I can dismantle the tank and get stuck in to that pesky rust, cos I'm sick of watching vids of other people doing it. :rofl2:
All calm at Dibley Towers. :boogie2:
D.D.
I had that same rusting problem in my '81 GS 1000 G. I cleaned and flushed the tank several times.
The same result every time, until I stared to use 0.5 % of good quality two stroke oil in fuel. No new rust anymore..
Since that(over 10 years ago) I have used that two stroke oil trick in all my steel tank bikes, GSX 1400, XJR 1300 and ER 5,
0.3-0.5% depending on season.
No rust, no visible smoke, no dirt or carbon on spark plugs, and no knocking problems with every boost level I use.
Some of my friends use that same trick on their bikes with the same result (including two turbo bikes)
Ah, another Stourbridge man.
No doubt I may see you around :)
Yes, your not far away. Lol

Absolutely. I'm down to Devon today for a week but I'll be in touch when I'm back and see a dry day in sight.
Are you still usually available Fri-Sun?

Thanks for the invite T250, regrettably I'm coming down in the car to attend a chalet owner's meeting on Sunday.
I do hope to get down to my place in Dartmouth at least once or twice this year on one of the bikes, maybe we could catch up somewhere - I remember stumbling across what looked to be a Bike Night in Bude last summer, is it a regular thing?
Yes every Wednesday night down at the canal in Bude, special bikers discount for a mug of tea :)
