Title: New Lid
Post by: Notty on Tuesday, 14 February 2023, 02:11 AM
I have a Schuberth shaped head and find the flip front great as I wear glasses - a few weeks ago I dropped the bike and unbeknown to me the visor took a knock and has a small crack a few cms long - a new visor is around £60 and as my helmet is over 4 years old I thought get a new one  :) the old one was Matt Black..so same again? well no actually, riding with some mates on the weekend I realised how visible the lead rider was with a white helmet even though he was half a mile ahead ( I got stuck at traffic lights, he is Slower than me ) so I wanted bright but different so a C4 Pro  :)

I'm curious as to a "Schuberth" shaped head 🧐🧐
Is it pointy ? Or oval ???

Helmet makers are now putting a lot of effort into head shapes.  In The old days there were two shapes Intermediate oval (Arai) or round (Shoei) and that was it.  But times are a changing, Arai changes its shape for different models from Intermediate oval to long oval.  Shoei have gone slightly more oval to a less than intermediate oval.  Schuberth ae more round now as are shark.  Scorpion are intermediate oval as are AGV and LS2 seem to specialise in long oval so there is plenty of choice out there now.  I have a classic Arai shaped head so find them the best for me, I try new helmets out every year, I go to the dealer and try on a helmet for about an hour,(read the paper) but after it all I still come down to Arai, but I am looking again now as although they are the best fit for me and by far the most comfortable I really hate the new visor locking system, it's truly the work of the devil.

My only complaint about the Schuberth (BMW) helmet I had was the visor didn't retract when you lift the jaw piece up leaving a big sail to catch the wind. Lost the whole visor that way.

I have a built in intercom on my old Schubert that will swop over to the new one (£250 new) - If I bought the latest Schubert flip lid it would be £950 with intercom (different design to make you spend more  :furious: )

Sounds a good plan Notty, is that a pun? I ride with ear plugs, love the quiet, can still hear if bike running nice, no music or intercom for me. Strangely enough, opposite in car, LedZep on full boar tonight coming home. Is Kashmir the greatest song ever?Must be up there.

@grog, Kashmir IS the greatest song of all time, period. First in my top10, always! Even when I redo the top10. @Notty, I'm on my 3rd Schuberth and this time opted for white, a C5. Guess it's gotta do with the 55 years old. These come prepared for intercoms, so did my C3,but never used it. I live in a big city (Lisbon) and always have to keep my full attention on the caged bastards. For whom´s interested the C5 tends to be for round heads.
