Title: Visitors on site
Post by: GSXKING on Saturday, 07 January 2023, 04:19 PM
Whenever I'm logged on I usually check to see whom else might be online & I've just noticed there seems to be a lot of visitors online at anytime.
My question to administrators is do you know who they are ?
How long can they be a visitor for ?
It's just my OCD kicking in 🤬🤬

No, we don't know who the visitors / guests are, just like visiting any other site, unless you log in you're anonymous.  Basically they can be visitors for ever if they want, they can't post or anything, just look.

Lurkers have always been a thing on all the various guises of the org since 2002 .
Some folk just don't like to chat ,others just looking for info .
I'd advise anyone having a look around to become a member and pop to the bar and say help you never know you might find someone local to help each other with the bikes or just go for a run with every now and then .
The only worrying thing with lurkers are now on some Facebook pages there us a massive rise in scammers mostly from America bug not all from there and it be worried they are here getting info on commonly needed expensive parts to use the info in thier scams .
At least in here folk are checked and if found out we have a proper admin to boot them off .

I think I've mentioned it before that I'm Admin on the Suzuki Bandit forum.
I currently block approximately 300-400 potential spammers trying to gain access to the forum every single day. Anyone trying to get in has to get past me first. Luckily their user names and email addresses are a dead giveaway that they want to gain access just to spam the site. Before the current vetting procedure was put in place we used to get the odd one join up and just create pages and pages of spam which took forever to go through and delete.
A lot of people don't realise just how much time and effort goes into keeping a forum up and running smoothly and spam free.

Thanks to all involved in keeping this site running sweetly :onya:

Visitors could be anyone looking at the site, including forum members who have not logged on, but are just browsing the site in general. Pretty normal

Possibly. There's a lot of Prince's with huge amounts of cash or gold they seem to struggle transferring.. I'm sure they'd afford one !

@froudy
Not sure if the forum software of the bandit forum has an appropriate integration but do check out CleanTalk (https://cleantalk.org/)- it's pretty effective.  Can get rid of many before you even have to see them/deal with them manually.
