Title: Electric
Post by: grog on Sunday, 11 December 2022, 06:10 PM
The worlds saviour, electric cars to save the world. Just reading Switzerland to stop them due to no power because of Ukraine War, not forever, just in case power low. Imagine your biggest city, everyone plugs their cars in, were told to turn off AC in needy times. What a load of crap. Sorry you cant charge your car, not enough to go around.

That's another kick in the teeth for EV users, along with the UK government saying that they will pay the basic Vehicle Excise Duty of £165 from April 1st 2025.

Its "climate change" aka the weather - underpins everything that's happening

That's the whole idea though.

It's nothing to do with the obvious climate lies. It's all about being able to limit everyone's mobility & freedoms by not letting you charge etc.

The fools whom believe in climate change are simply uneducated & being influenced by popularism.

This cartoon has been posted before but exemplifies the idiocy of Australian politicians to become "Green" whilst bankrupting our nation 🙄
We have the greatest resources of gas, coal etc & yet we pay world parity prices because we've allowed monopolies to come in & rape us 😱

I can see Australia being a divided country as far as this go's.

Falling for the tree huggers bullshit and tightening up on citys. Heavily taxing non-EV's, city tolls, extra dirty vehicle tax's etc etc. Lots of folk who do short drives and are around suburbia may end up victims to this crap.

Away from the coast and capital city's where everything is a long way away and you can't plug your vehicle into a rock or termite mound, it'll struggle for a long time to come.  Although a big chunk of the population are on the coast, rural communities, farmers, growers, gas and oil workers, civil industry etc aren't going to be as easily pushed into it.

I don't see many EV's or charging points in Roma, Chinchilla, Miles, Dalby etc, a rare one is places like Kingaroy is still a novelty.   Unlike places like the UK where there's a large population, well distributed, small distances... Australia is VERY different.

When the Gen-2 Busa failed Euro 4, got an extension to do a model run out, then got removed from the showrooms and banned as a new model.... Australia was happy to keep importing them and selling them right up to the release of the Gen-3.  This is what Australia should do, the UK is not a good role model for our market needs.

One one with an 'Lecky bike was posting in another group.

He was doing some long haul run across the country.

Posting up vids / clips of him on main rural interstate trucking routes doing 80kph, sometimes on the hard shoulder doing 80kph. Regularly being passed by B-Doubles and road trains sitting at 100kph.   20kph under the speed limit on road with no over taking lane, where there's a lot of truck doing 100.

It looked a nightmare.

He argued that it was necessary to go slower that every other vehicle on purpose as increasing his speed reduced his range and he wouldn't make the next charger.

He thought he was clever.

He was overwhelmingly told he was a f#cking idiot.

I'll just have a buy a generator to keep it charged if I ever buy an an electric motorcycle. I'm not concerned about all the environmental stuff I just want an electric motor, I've been in my brothers Tesla and it (well it doesn't scream actually) accelerates like no other road legal car. I also like the quietness, some say loud pipes save lives I say bollocks to that. If you're riding along the sheep don't move unless you startle the herd.

Don't see many 'Lecky cars out my way. If they can make it this far, good luck trying to find anywhere to recharge it.  Sitting at the speed limit, aircon on, up the hills, many wouldn't make it home.

You blokes have it easy. They are trying to bankrupt NZ by charging the farmers for their cows farting. It's nuts, we are recognised as the most efficient producer of meat and dairy products. The Greens want a reduction in herd sizes. So we reduce production and another less efficient producer nation fills the shortfall. Oh nearly forgot, because the Greenies see the dirty dairy farmers that drive diesel utes as the destroyers of the planet they have caused many suicides amongst farmers as their liability to fence off water ways, planting to stop erosion, account for this and that, compliance regulations and costs including a carbon emissions tax continue to spiral out of control. In many cases the farmers' children do not want to be involved in farming on land that has been farmed by many generations of their family.
I went into Tauranga today and the place is a gridlocked mess of orange road cones and barriers with not a lot of action from the hi-viz clad people wandering around expanding footpaths and cycleways whilst removing vehicle lanes and carparks.
The planners are fools, so many empty shops, so many parking wardens, why would you shop in town ??
EV's.....yeah whatever. Thats a whole chaper of car dealers cashing in on the latest fad.... sorry , con !!
Breathe deeply and......exhale.

Conned, for sure. Spent the bucks on solar for house, works well. Tomorrow theyre reducing input tarriff. Went from 18c to 12, tomorrow 5. With 12 quite ok, 5 will mean not much saving. They talk about power increase then rob us who try to help.

Yep and USA with plenty of cities and towns with supercharging points, not as much distance between most of those towns when crossing the country as compared here.
and 332 million people to share the tax burden as opposed to our 26 million.

We couldn't be more different to the euro/usa centric models being used.

Oh and the Greens favourite argument is 'per capita emissions'. That's bullshit. Even if CF power stations were causing climate change, the climate wouldn't give a fuck about that - it's ACTUAL emission VOLUMES that are relevant.
