RIP Johnny.

I saw a talk by him about the raid a few years ago, fascinating chap & happy to chat to everyone afterwards.
It was an event with XH558, so Martin Whiters was talking about Black Buck too.
Sad news, my only regret is I didn't get to speak to him, I worked with his daughter for 8 years and never took the opportunity to meet him.
The brave generation.
Rest easy.
There's some real interesting story's about him.
The crews had a 40% casualty rate. Most missions involved dropping ASAP and getting the Hell out of there. He had them do multiple runs, and getting lower and lower until he was finally satisfied it was spot on and did the release.
Perfect hit.
His dedication to the job and that of his crew was a contributing factor in how things ended up for many millions of folk.
Inevitable of course but sad none the less. Such good men.
The reason I don't like war is because those that defend me allow it.
Those brave brave men turned the course of the war lest we forget 🇬🇧 🇬🇧🇬🇧🛫🛫💣💣🥇
