As far as a bikini fairing for the GSX1400 goes, as a young man in the days of the GS1000S Wes Cooley era, the only style of fairing for me had to be the GS1000S.
I was well aware of all the fitting difficulties with trying to mount the replica GS1000S fairing on to the GSX1400 (I also think the GS1000S fairing is a bit big and bulky - showing its age basically), so I managed to get hold of a slightly smaller secondhand GSX400S Impulse fairing.
Apart from fabricating a general mounting bracket (which took a lot of patience to keep trial fitting after bending, welding and tweaking etc), I only had to make new offset brackets for the two horns (i.e. offset by about 20mm further back from the front of the bike because the fairing fouled the horns on full lock, but same side to side width), and also offset brackets to allow the indicators to align correctly with the curved cut outs on the fairing.
I think the GSX400S Impulse fairing has worked out great in terms of fitment and on balance looks just right for the bike (i.e. the right in size proportions).
Oh nearly forgot, I also took the opportunity to get a 7" steel headlamp bowl to fabricate and install a 55W HID Bi-Xenon headlight into it and for the first time in all my 45 years of motorcycling, I have a great headlight.
Very nice 👌
Not for me but excellent work.
not my choice :bugga: well done though :clapping:
How did I miss this thread?
That's some great work there :)
Very nice, like that :onya:
Yours looks very good in comparison to original see pic

No turbulence issues at all, in fact high speed cruising much more comfortable because wind blast to the chest etc area is greatly reduced.
Always great to see someone having a vision of something and figuring out a high quality way to make it reality. Glad to hear too that the benefits aren't just aesthetic for you.
Looks great
I appreciate the time you have put into it to make it right
Well done
