Out for a ride today as it was sunny , bacon, cheeseburger and cup of tea at onyerbike nr, Aylesbury then onto H's cafe another cuppa then went next door to the shop that sells helmets, riding gear etc, etc, picked up a refill bottle of muc-off visor cleaner. On my way home I went over a bump and then felt a knock everything seemed ok so I carried on home only to discover when I parked up that my entire number plate assembly had sheared off it's mounting bolts and was hanging down suspended by the indicator wires only . Took the back end of the bike off to remove what was left and found that corrosion had eaten it away , only the washers were holding it in place ,so the bump must have dislodged it. As soon as I've finished this post I'm on ebay looking for a new tail tidy with indicator mounts, oh yeah two new indicators as well the wirings all chaffed . If anyone knows of a good make to look for give me a shout. Tally K7fe
It's ok found a universal one on ebay £11
Can you post a before and after pic please :hat: :hat:
I just use a generic hayabusa one off ebay and its fine because the hayabusa script cutout is covered by the plate anyway.
@GSXKING , as promised here are the photos, top is the old broken one , bottom one is the new universal one off eBay. The bracket bolts to the back and can be slid in and out to where you want it. The only mod I need to do is drill two new holes closer together to mount it to the undertray.
Great
@Tally I'm keen to see what it looks like on the bike also please 🙏
I've never seen a modified one.
Mine is stock standard 👌
Well I put the new one on , bolted it all into place and went for a ride this afternoon. Lo and behold it's broken again. A much more careful examination has revealed the culprit. The mounting point on the undertray must have had a crack in it altering the angle of the plate . I must have hit a bump somewhere as it's punched a hole straight through. So I need a new undertray, license plate holder ( again).
Put the proper mudguard back, it'll look a lot better too.

@Tally I had an Ermax under tray on one of my previous 1400's have to say the quality was good although a bit weak for mounting the reg plate, I strengthened mine with a bit of steel plate inside before mounting the plate which did the trick nicely
Goo idea I like it , will do
@Will14
Undertray arrives tomorrow , not bad as I only ordered it Sunday at 9-30 pm . License plate holder is Wednesday :boogie:

@Tally I can't seem to find it now, but on the old ORG. there was a template for a DIY tail tidy. It was a piece of 2mm (ish) square steel plate with a 90 degree fold inwards at the top which was then fixed to the underside of the undertray, also two ears on each side which were again folded 90 degrees with a hole drilled in each to mount the rear indicators. It was pretty strong and secure with a piece of steel plate inside the undertray to strengthen further, much stronger than using the small mount on the ermax undertray. I used stainless checker plate & painted mine white so it blended in with the under tray and with nice filed rounded corners etc didn't look DIY at all :onya:
Well if you want to bin it - I have a undertail for 90 BPD - must pick up through in Swansea/Mumbles
Comes with lights
@Globalrider thanks for the offer but my new one arrived today even comes with a bespoke license plate holder.
@Will14 the mounting points for the plate on the new one have been revised but I will still make up a bracket for the inside . The only other thing I have to do is remove the little screw clips off the old one and put them on the new one.

@Tally That looks like a much better design, good to see that they are still improving their products for a bike that has been out of production for almost 15 years
I have a question. I am replacing my undertray today and I need the little clips that the screws , screw into . My question is are they easy to remove and reusable. I don't want to have a go at them and ruin em, knowing that I'm quite ham fisted on fiddly things.
All done now , no real dramas . The screw clips came off easily and it's all back together now.
