Inevitable but still sad.
All the idiot end of the republican spectrum will be hammering on again in the not too distant future.
Whatever people think of the monarchy, I've never seen a politician I'd rather see in that job
I have to think though that the institution would be in a better place if William were King rather than Charles
Long live King Charles the Turd 💩 not really 🧐🧐
The monarchy will die with Liz hopefully 🙏🙏🙏
Really?
Whatever people think of the monarchy, I've never seen a politician I'd rather see in that job.
A symbolic figure head and a bit of history that a lot of folk liked to have. Certainly no bad thing. She was loved and appreciated by many. In a shitty world she was a constant who put in the long haul.
RIP.

Cool story about her
From her first meeting with Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of Ghana, who led the Gold Coast to independence, and committed advocate of the pan-Africanism movement.
This would have been around 1957, just five years into Elizabeth's reign. From The State of Africa by Martin Meredith:
"[Nkrumah] was particularly thrilled at the prospect of meeting Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace – 'agog with excitement', according to Erica Powell. His staff explained that normally an audience would last about half an hour. 'It's no good talking to me about time, you know it means nothing to me,' he retorted. 'If I am bored I shall want to leave after two minutes. If I'm interested I may stay an hour or two without realising it.' Horrified, his staff advised that the Queen would give some kind of indication when the audience was at an end.
"The following morning he returned from the palace, exhilarated by the experience. 'She's an amazing woman!' he declared. 'So small and so simple and modest.'
"'How long did you stay?' his staff asked eagerly.
"'My goodness! It was terrible! We were talking so much and it was all so interesting for me that when I at last looked at my watch I saw that I had been there an hour! I exclaimed: "Oh! Is that really the time?" And I got worried in case I might not have noticed the sign that she may have made for me to leave. Anyhow, I looked for my stick, but I couldn't see it. Then the Queen asked me if I had lost something, and I said: "Yes, my stick." And can you imagine what she did? She actually got down on her knees to help me find it. It had fallen at the back of my chair. I felt so ashamed of myself.'
"Queen Elizabeth was as fascinated by Nkrumah as he was by her. On a subsequent occasion, he was invited as her personal guest to the royal residence at Balmoral, a rare favour for a foreign head of government. There, after a walk on the moors to watch Prince Philip shooting grouse, he was affirmed a member of 'Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council'. The picture taken of him with the Queen at Balmoral became a favourite possession. He ordered thousands of copies to be printed."
RIP

Yes. Apart from a lot of other training and mechanics, she drove trucks and rode bikes.

My mother who was only a couple of months younger than the Queen and who died just a couple of months ago trained in the ATS (Auxilliary Teritorial Service), at Camberley, at the same time as the Queen. She didn't get to meet her but she did meet her parents when they visited the future Queen on the camp. My Mum was always reminding me and my brother that Liz went home every night to Windsor but everyone else had to stay in the camp. It was mentioned at my Mum's funeral. It got a laugh.
A very sad loss to this country, she was a great, great lady and did not deserve to be booed by the scum football fans when the teams stood for a minute silence at the start of the match. If I had my way that lot would be hung up by the bollocks till dead, bastards.
I see the ginger fuckwit Harry didn't even stay at Balmoral till the queen was cold, he should take his slapper home to the USA and stay there.
Rest In Peace Elizabeth.
What Mick said
Been hearing some great stories here from people that met her.
All Black Ali Williams was asked by her havnt we met before. Williams says "yes Maam this is the third time, in NZ if you meet three times its called a date." The Queen laughed and responded "oh you New Zealanders"
No matter what you think of the Monarchy the planet will be a lesser place without her.
May she Rest in Peace.
Sorry mate, just more welfare recipients for me.

RIP,
Some of the jokes we get about the death of the Queen
2nd one is harsh but bloody good.
Just watched the News, never do usually. No Monarchist but the process for Queen is totally amazing. Total precision. I really did like her, just stood n took her whole life. By the way, my 92 year old Mum resembles her so much. Just a slightly different bank account.
I see that your PM wants NZ to become a republic, you'll be just like the French then. :whistling: The queen isn't even in the ground yet and you buggers want out.

Grog lives in Australia Mick, not New Zealand. We're close by each other, way down the bottom of the world, but we're different countries for sure. They have much more people, land, money, well everything really, than us Kiwi's.

New Zealand will not actively take any measures to become a republic in the short-term after the death of Queen Elizabeth, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said, though she expects the Pacific nation will eventually become one.

@KiwiCol
In 'Straylia we call that a "Yeah-Nah", but with NuZilland being a bit behind, I think Jacinta (HorseFace) has it backwards and has gone "Nah-Yiss"...

'Cept sheep, thr welsh and the kiwis beat us on sheep per capita
Wales 10 million sheep, NZ 26 million sheep & Aussie 104 million sheep, so you win Eric, Aussie has the most.
Sorru, was using european decimals, it should read :
Wales, 3.19million people, 10million sheep, so 3,134 sheep per 1000 people.
NZ: 5.127 million people, 26 million sheep, so 5,070 sheep per 1000 people
OZ: 27.1 million people 104 million sheep so 3,830 sheep per 1000 people
I was wrong about the Welsh .....only just..... but you kiwis.......:whistling:
Are they fast in UnzUd
@KiwiCol ???
The King is visiting Cardiff today, firstly at Llandaff Cathedral which is about half a mile from my house. There have been road closures all week and those who live near the cathedral were told to move their cars at 9am Monday and they had to be gone by 10am !!!! They have laid new tarmac, painted anything that doesn't move, and filled potholes that were celebrating their 5th anniversaries !! strange the council don't do anything the rest of the year !
Not going to queue to see the new King, will watch on TV as Mrs Notty has been bedridden for the last 5 weeks with a slipped disc :bugga:
One of the reasons the queen liked to go to Balmoral was that it didn't always smell of wet paint, she had a whole army of painters and decorators walking backwards in front of her, (been there done that), I've known lads who had to paint grass green during royal visits.
Sorry to hear about your Wife Notty. Thought you said slipped dick, specsavers moment. Wouldve made a good story. Not at all being nasty, just touched my humour. My Wife also disc probs, steroid injections have made big diff. Operation to fix outrageous money.
