Title: Advice on USD fork conversion
Post by: GnRunner on Sunday, 31 July 2022, 12:17 AM
Hi

Here's the plan. USD fork conversion with Radial calipers. I can make the triple clamps on a CNC mill so now I need to decide which forks to use. Looking at the chart that is available on the forum it would seem that GSXR1000 K3/K4 forks would work best. The fork spacing at the wheel clamps is 1mm narrower but again I can machine any parts needed.

Anyone want to chime in with thier 2 cents so I don't go making uneccasary mistakes? Does anyone have the same fork info for the GSX1400 as that on the chart we have here?

Thanks
Matt

I assume you've seen the chart here https://gsx1400owners.org/forum/index.php?topic=187.0

Yep, took a good look at that chart and its got lots of good info. I was hoping to hear from someone who had done a conversion and see what thier experience had been. There are usually a few quirks that need to be ironed out when doing such a project.

Not done a 14 but the basic red flags to watch for are....

Fork length (extending dorks or using a stepped top yoke)
Weight the suspensions set for.
Steering stem lengths.
Head bearings.
Top yolk to take bars.
Full lock stops.
Mounting clocks.
Mounting headlight.
