Hurt pride - dropped bike in driveway  .... I'm ok but it's gonna need new gear linkage, and throttle stuff attended to... :furious:
slippery bastard driveway and apparently non-non-stick boots.
Not an ideal way to start the day.
Q: Where to buy a replacement gear linkage?
Also these things are really thin but that may be a deliberate design so they are the first to break and not something more significant?
You plonker.
Thanks that's just what I needed to hear. Not.
But then again what are mates for eh?! :upu: :stir:
Maybe here mate,

Sorry to hear that mate (snigger snigger). Good excuse to buy a second bike for parts, oh and new boots too.
but these are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned....

Thanks mate - great catalog and reference. Doubles price with postage though but gotta do what gotta do eh.
Yeah Mate there mite be a few items you'll need (Grips they come with throttle tube complete etc;) for the future so brings the postage down over all.. :)
How does the linkage get bent like that when all the carnage is on the right hand side? Forgive me if I have no idea but can't you just take it off and straighten it?
Ouch! That'll hurt the wallet as well as the pride.
If the gear linkage bar isn't easily available...
... and if it can't be straightened....
... it's something that any fabrication shop / engineer would knock up in minutes.
You can't normally use threaded bar as the ends need opposite threads so they extend od contract when you do adjustments.
River City Motorcycles at Boondall we're listing GSX14 bits a while back. Aren't they near you ?
Vlad, theres an add on Gumtree. 14 parts in SA.
Sorry to hear but so easily done.
Wish the bike a speedy recovery :onya:

talking about?
Can you elaborate on that please? As in what parts you are talking about (ideally from the mickhone link in this thread earlier)
The throttle is indeed problematic - haven taken a hit on the bars its like it has one of those throttle locks in place. Low revs. then jerky then high revs and stays wherever its left. Not safe at all.

never heard of em and yeah that's the next suburb across. :onya:
Nothing mate just saying you mite want a few things for future maintenance as postage for one item can be abit steep, I just mentioned the Grips/Thottle tube as I just got new ones for mine a bit of grease inside the throttle tube when installing it on bars much smoother, Maybe spray a bit of something in cables mite be sticking ..
yeah but you mentioned grips/throttle tube specificallly?
Im wondering what I might need to fix my throttle problem described above...
When bikes off not running and you spin the throttle/grip does it spin back quick and smooth or stops and sticks in spots..

stops and sticks wherever i turn it to.
Yeah mine was a bit sticky too so pulled it apart and put a new throttle tube and grips sprayed some lube in cable and grease in throttle tube and its smooth as now spins back fast as..
So https://www.mickhone.com.au/partFinder/fiche/suzuki/2007/gsx1400/handle-lever#next item 1 then.

14's for breaking aren't normally cheap or common but I have thought about it and do keep an eye out. If a suitable bike comes up (or most chain drive 16v IL4's, 1980 on) I have the transport, time and room to break them and part them out, both to feed my own addiction and supply others. It's just finding them in my now diminished budget at the moment.
Yeah that's the one Vlad or 1 & 9 for both..

Throttle wise, I'd take the damaged bar end off & see if it works. It's not difficult to bent the bolt holding the bar end on & the bar end rubs on the throttle tube & jams it.
River City near you have the gear linkage but they are selling the whole assembly and aren't cheap.

Interesting what they are asking for 14 bits though....

Do you mean expensive Tony.

I may be a bit out of touch with prices, but yes, they seem expensive to me.
Then again everything seems to have gone that way recently I guess.

Well bugger me I thought - nah it's definitely not that !
:embarassed:
It was that :onya:
So that's sorted ! Just need to get a shift rod and I'll be back on the road!
Figuratively rather than literally ON the road is the plan. :)
Have you ordered these? To be sure... :stir:
