Couple of weeks back, storage sheds across road from my work. Lady wanted help to start her Harley. When i arrived, shed had a go, used lithium jump pack. Problem. She got one of her rings caught between positive terminal and bike frame. Never seen such a messed up finger. Total ring of puss around finger. Had heated up so much. Result, mustve hurt like hell. Finger amputated. Simple job, turned to crap.
Ouch! that's gotta sting.
I had similar happen to me with a metal watch strap, got real hot real fast! Burned & blistered my skin, but healed up ok.
I had wet arms & under watch strap, shorted out on the battery of the boat, that learned me!
Yeah people underestimate electricity ALL the time
Just check out the number of deaths and serious injuries caused by people who don't know what they are doing and the risks when artistically "fractal burning".
Back in the 80's our union safety rep had to change a fuse on a large telephone switchboard equipment, not having a screwdriver handy (and he calls himself an engineer!!) he used a key from his large bunch, they shorted across the "buzz" bars and knocked off the entire switchboard burning his hand quite badly. The good news - it was the main hospital in Cardiff he had knocked out so medical treatment was prompt :rofl2:
Very "handy".
:whistling: I'll see myself out.
I phoned the lady i wrote about today. She didnt lose her finger, it just doesnt work anymore. Not sure if thats a better result.
When I was in training to become a radar technician one of the lads on the parallel course got his finger caught between two stabilised power rails, +300v and -400v. Didn't blow his finger off but made a bloody mess of it. I worked with high power equipment most of my service career and tried not to mess with it, 47Kv is not something you need up your arse.
