Just been noticing that on several Facebook groups there is alot of scamming over the selling of spare parts (much more than ever before)
Please check the sellers profile .
Where they are from (a guy tried to buy a tank from America where the bike was never sold)
And often have several profiles to help make thier fake lives seam straight and real .
It's happening on other groups too my mates seen it in VW forums.
So just stay safe and keep an extra eye out .
Good warning Seth. Got scammed by a Facebook ad and thought I had done my diligence. Payment was using Paypal not a huge amount of money but it pissed me off to get scammed. To my banks credit they reimbursed the money. I think because PayPal was involved. Now I see lots of scam adverts on Facebook. So wouldn't buy anything advertised on there. I don't understand how they can continue being the facilitator of criminal activity.
I've noticed a few times recently, I see something the interests me, but when I click on the sellers "see other items" the exact same thing is being listed in several citys thousands of K's away!
With vehicles you don't need to be Sherlock Holmes with some items to think some of the building and numberplate look like they are from a whole different country!
I still buy from FB Market place, my firewood, IBC tanks and heaps of stuff came from there, but for me it's become strictly stuff I can go and view / pick up and I refuse to pay deposits to hold stuff. I'm sure I've missed a few genuine deals but I just don't want the hassle.
Its not just the marketplace.
The actual paid facebook ads are OFTEN for scams.
Facebook has NO INTEREST in curtailing any activity which makes them money.
The last things they give shit about is the actual people using the platform.
There's a paddock stand called Dynamoto that will roll sideways too. A bit expensive but works well to spin your bike around or park it somewhere tight.
I saw their add recently and noticed they were much cheaper, but the rest of the ad was the same. I was a bit suspicious, turns out someone had copied their website in detail and was taking orders. Take the money and run! They fooled quite a few folk.
