Title: Need BRIGHT LED bliinkers - recommendations?
Post by: VladTepes on Monday, 06 March 2017, 05:15 PM
I have LED blinkers on my bike which look really nice.... BUT a few mates on rides have mentioned that they aren't very bright / easy to see in daylight.

On one hand I know car drivers don't take any notice of us anyway.

On the other hand it's probably better to have good visible indicators !

Can anyone recommend any LED indicators which are nice and bright?

Randomly choosing some from ebay or wherever is a complete lottery...

I use those: https://goo.gl/bgv660
And they are really bright, even they are pretty small.

get them on ebay, but could not find them there anymore.

i found that the standard indicators fitted with smoked lenses seam much brighter than standard lenses .
a direct swop from a gsxr750 i think.

i only see people having problems with led indicators especially as the uk is such a rainy place.

How many LED's have yours got in them Mike?   I've just this morning (about 30 min ago) ordered some off e-bay, & think they're like yours! Geez, I hope these ones are bright, have a set on now & only 9 led's, they work, but not bright enough during the day.

You had (have) the tear drop shape with a hole in the center ? Yeah?  I see this style come in 11 & 20 LED. I've ordered the ones with 20 in them, figure they should be much brighter than the 9 ones I've got - I know, I know, it all depends on the LED as to how bright it is, but 20 has gotta be better than 9.  So, have you got 11's or 20's that are too dim?

Thx

Yeah they look really good on the bike, very chic, but that's not a lot of use if they aren't visible when operating.....

It appears that half the led's in them have failed already.  On the LHS only the top portion is working not the bottom set - around the 'hole' if you follow....

I think mine are the 20s as it looks like maybe 9 or 10 are lighting only. But I'll double check later.

edit:  actually 12's !

@northern  thanks mate I also couldn't find them on ebay... they do seem a bit expensive the link you provided though, (for four - two pairs - it's USD $91 with shipping, or 121 Aussie shekels )  .... wish I could get them somewhere else...

Yeah I have pretty much these 12 LED ones   http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4x-12LED-Motorcycle-Motorbike-Turn-Signal-Indicators-Lights-Lamp-Amber-Universal-/131890019240?hash=item1eb541fba8:g:QaEAAOSwZVlXmCor

The front ones are doing OK but quite a few of the led's in the rear ones (more vibration?) have failed.   I'll take  a few pics and attach them soon.

My son had those on his DRZ400 Vlad...They didn't last a month before the LED's started failing one by one.

Yup..That's what his did too :furious:

We've both gone back to OEM indicators now...Smaller ones though.
Newer GSX-R and Gladius units are quite small and work very well.

I use these on mine:

Also available on Amazon.
Very small and barely visible when not in use but when flashing they're the brightest I've ever come across.

Thanks lads.

@bigian14 - nice and bright eh? Good to know. How long have you had yours on? No issues?

@northern  - an easy fix occurred to me.  Just take those off your bike and post them to me.....  ;)

@V_i_c_i  - As that page is translated from German I'm not sure whether that is PER indicator or per pair ?  If it's per indicator then they are bloody expensive AND there is only 1 left in stock !

I'd agree on that Ian, those are one of the brightest LED inidicators ive seen and used, surprising fir such a small unit. I'd happily fit them again

It will be per indicator. I know, not cheap. But they are made from metal. I had them for 4 years and work and look still aa new.
I bought them in sale for 700CZK per pcs.
Try search. I posted first one that I found.

I tried searching.....no luck finding it anywhere else cheaper. Only found one other link and it is the same seller.
Anyway I'll see what they have to say.  While they sounds good, if that is a per unit price I simply cant justify it. I'll probably end up with the ones bigian14 has. Still not cheap but probably would do just as I need.

OK so Ive heard back from the ebay vendors I messaged:

1.  KOSO - via UK eBay -   GBP 24.75 per unit x 4 + GBP35 shipping = GBP134 = AUD$217 !  OUCH !

2. So I find a listing for the same item on ebay Australia at... wait for it...  AUD$119.96 EACH (yep I checked) but they were talking up the free postage which I found highly amusing since total price for 4 indicators would be AUD$480 !  OUCH SQUARED !!!!

NO Indicator is worth those sort of prices - bloody ridiculous.

3. So then I went and found the ones bigian14 pointed me to,
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RYDE-BLACK-LED-MOTORCYCLE-MOTORBIKE-MINI-EYE-INDICATORS-CAT-UPGRADE-FACELIFT-/400345725700?hash=item5d3676fb04:g:pnQAAOSwYmZXIKLT
which are a much better price:   BUT of course they refuse to ship to Australia..... and I can't find them locally.

Anyone have any idea what the postage for a couple of pairs of indicators would be in real life from UK to Australia postcode 4017 ?

The Right Honorable Lord Barmy could post them over to you, just have them sent to his place?   Or better still, he could bring them over in person along with his Megs' kit.

Which is a lot cheaper - AUD $106 plus whatever post would be and again IF they'd post to Australia.

As nice as the are I might stick with the cheaper ones....

edit:  Barmy is on the case for me ! Thanks mate.
