Title: Bottom Fork Bushing Fitting
Post by: kquacker on Wednesday, 25 May 2022, 05:06 AM
I have a leaking fork seal and disassembled the fork to fit a new one.
Am I right in thinking that the bottom bushing, which sits in a groove on the stanchion lower, should slide back into the fork leg ? cos it wont?  Does it need to be driven in ? The bushing looks fine.

For the life of me, I cant remember how I did them before  :confused1:

Sounds  like you've solved it, but yes.

The one at the top of the lower leg normally needs to be driven in slightly as as it's sprung loaded to help it stay in place. The one at the bottom of the stanchion will slide into place with finger pressure. I always lube them with fork oil so they don't scratch or anything.
