Hey all,
Is there anyone out there who have used the RZ (no piggy back) rather than the RG piggy back) YSS shocks?
I actually like the cleaner look - weird, I know.
I realise they don't have compression damping, but am not sure exactly how necessary that feature is, given the age/weight,level of tech that our amazing machines consist of (they're not GSXR's after all).
Plus I'm currently doing ok with the OEM's still fitted, so I expect anything will be a significant improvement?
Your thoughts or experiences would be most welcome.
You can have stock shocks rejuvenated at minimal cost 👍
Possibly change spring rate & oil weight if you want more performance but then you may stress swingarm twist 🤔🤔
Thanks mate,
I've had mine redone before - wanting to get a bit more rear ride height which is why the change.
Fast 14, cant you just fit jack up spacers?Lots have done that. Not something i need or know about but have seen them on here. 👍
Unless I have it wrong, they will simply increase tension on the spring, effectively increasing preload.
Ride height adjustment will actually make the shock 25mm longer from eye to eye, leaving the full range of correct adjustment intact.
I have Matisse lifters under shocks gives loads of ride height, no footpeg srapping anymore. Tip in is better too :onya: :onya:
Got YSS "RZ362-335TRL-07" pair non piggyback from suspensionsrus ($750) on May 12th via:
https://suspensionsrus.com.au/index.php?route=product/product&path=170&product_id=73
Express delivery (quick) to Brisbane was $25 addon.
Not disappointed but too early for me to say as I used them to get a 20 year old girl re-reg'd and didn't want to wait for rebuild of old shocks.
The 10mm extra available length is not of use to me as it initially put the back wheel on the floor when on centre stand. I set them to be same length as oem's (330mm).
I set preload to 27/29mm (of about 60mm max. adjust) and rebound at one third of full range to start (4 clicks of 12).
Note when preload is backed right off the spring is free to jiggle. I found one side was 2 mm longer than other and I allowed fro that whilst winding preload up to keep it constant.
I am not in a position to comment on overall performance as I'm more focused on other things but I have no regrets.
I am happy with the looks too (the bike is grey) and don't miss the piggyback look nor compression damping aspect.
One day I'll refurb the oem's and probably keep them on the shelf.
yes bud fitted them about a week ago and they feel ok to me a good deal in my opinion when you consider the price to the originals and to have them re sealed and what have you i,m happy with em so far
regards
steve
Cheers mate.
I've ended up with the RG's, as I felt the compression dampening would be useful for me, along with the additional ride height.
Been on for a month or so now-still fine tuning but they have transformed the bike.
Very happy customer.
These are the Matisse lifters I've had for 20 years I'm still using standard shocks, serviced every 5-6 years.
