Just wondering. Yeah, im an old fucker, music been a big thing all my life. Had a room full of records, went to CD, now just Spotify. Just asking your go to band, very difficult i know. Hard choice for me, just one, Lynrd Skynrd, thats my choice. When i cant find good music, i just choose them. So interested in your choice, ill listen open ears.
Ooh, so many to choose from. I'm probably considered a spring chicken on here, but I'm a big fan of 70s-80s rock. Growing up I listened to Dragon, Chisel,Oils, and also whitesnake, guns and roses, Metallica, Led Zep and so on. Favourite is definitely GnR, just awesome.
All my favourite bands were active in the 70s, some started off in the sixties. Purple, Zep, Boston, Sabbath, Quo, Argent, Dire Straits, Rainbow, Bad Company....... the list goes on.
My favourite band though has to be Free. The combination of Rodgers vocals, Kossoff's bluesy guitar, Fraser's solid basslines and Kirke's drums is quite sublime.
Yardbirds
OK leaving aside solo artists and just looking at bands:
I don't have a single favourite though the closest would be the first in the following list
USA
The Doors
KISS
The Beach Boys
Nirvana (because of associations as I grew up, they really only had a few great songs)
UK
Led Zeppelin
Motorhead
Def Leppard
Black Sabbath
AUSTRALIA
The Divinyls
The Atlantics
Midnight Oil (early albums were best)
Redgum
TISM (because fun)
NEW ZEALAND
Crowded House
GERMANY
Rammstein
@Vlad The Divinyls....... got an album of theirs :onya:
Fanny Hill - all girl band from 1971 :)
George Thorogood and the Destroyers.
Some great choices blokes, Fanny Hill, ill search n listen. Only one i said, ridiculous rule. Today i realised , Life empty without Rory Gallagher , Cold Chisel and Angels.
I listen to a lot of music, currently converting all my vinyl records to digital but if I had to choose one band that does it for me it has to be Manowar, absolutely fucking awesome.
THE BEATLES :boogie: :boogie: :boogie: :boogie: changed the world and their music is still as relevant today as it was when it was new.
I'm sure the headline was Fav Band not plural :stir: :stir: :stir: :confused1: :confused1: :confused1:
As nobody mentioned them before :
Sabrina and Rich Ashley :stir:
I remember Sabrina, mainly for the video she made for boys, boys, boys. The bikini she was wearing could and would not contain her ample cleavage

I presume you mean Rick Astley. You do know he has performed with the Foo Fighters. :boogie:

Difficult to a favourite, I like a lot of the band's mentioned. I would submit The Sensational Alex Harvey Band as a contender. Never saw them live but some of their songs were gold :boogie:
Refreshing my memory
Buster Hymen and the Penetrators.
Love this modern age of Spotify, current favourites are 'The Cadillac three' . Give 'em a listen 👍
I like many others could write lists of bands i love but if i could only listen to one it would be the Teutonic awesomeness of "Accept" ;)
Lino, had an hour listen to Cadillac Three, from same area as Skynrd, not too bad, just not up to them. I am biased but, so glad i listened, never knew them before. 👍
I always assumed you lot were my age, but not one mention of Pink Floyd.
I guess I am that bit older 😅
I always assume they are so old they'd say 'who?' when anyone mentioned Pink Floyd & then go on about this new guy Mozart and how good he is.
I've always found it interesting that most people stay with the music they grew up with. I'm aproaching 60 now and whilst I still revisit the rock and metal bands of the 70's-90's I have moved on...
Most of what I listen to at the moment is from the 21st century and nearly all of it is European, there is not much good music coming out of Britain these days.
Have a listen to Masters Of Destiny by Delain - at first Charlotte sings and then when you have been lulled into a false sense of security you recieve what feels like a punch between the eyes
from a light-heavyweight and then she SINGS

Other than Delain, Nightwish and Within Temptation fill most of my time.

Google says:
'The Beatles'
not found in 'best bands', 'world changing' or 'relevant today'.
Did you mean 'The Rolling Stones?
:P
