Title: Cordless washer
Post by: Tally on Saturday, 12 February 2022, 01:56 AM
Went out on my bike this week and it is filthy, so I went on the interweb and this came today, how good it will be I'll find out tomorrow (sat). First some shampoo for the bike (any recommendations for a good shampoo is welcomed). It was only £50, if it does the job money well spent , if not I'll send it back it was bought using PayPal so I should be good.

I second that: never user pressure washing on bikes: your bearings and all electrical connectors, switch contacts, etc. will thank you for that in the long term.

Rubbish. There's no reason not to use a pressure washer if you're sensible. Just don't aim it directly at bearings or multiplugs and it's fine.

There's no way I'd get mud and salt deep enough to grow spuds in off without one.

I've used a power washer for years on my bikes never had any problems but then again I do maintainance and check bearings regularly.
I was thinking the potable one would be great for a drive-by cleaning on @Hooli s bike

Talking of which, when out the other week I'd stopped at some lights & a mate wiped the number plate clean!  :furious:

Some decent weather this afternoon so I decided to try that cordless washer I bought. £49.99 off eBay and I wish I hadn't, for a start the water needs to be higher than the gun for it to work properly. The pressure is no more than sticking your thumb over the end to a hosepipe, the water filter needs a weight attached to it to hold it at the bottom of the bucket, so not one I'd recommend   . Going to buy a proper one :onya:

Good to know Tally, thanks for the honest update. A shame for you though, knowing that you`ve forked out on something that clearly doesn`t do the job  More often than not, nothing beats a bucket of warm soapy water and sponge!

How could you possibly imagine that'd be any good?

It works ok as long as the water supply is higher than the gun.
