Title: Hello from the Gold Coast Australia
Post by: Dougie on Monday, 13 December 2021, 06:47 AM
I just got my bike a few weeks back, 08 Special edition all original as far as I know. 34,000 klms. Original logbook and all papers, original keys, and so on. I normally like to do some custom tweaks to bikes, I would like to put on some wider bars with risers, Kurakyn grips, change the mirrors, and also a tail tidy. But I also love the original look of it also, so for now, I will ride and think about changes.

Please don't ruin it with a tail tidy, they look bloody awful without the complete mudguard.

The other alternative, which I have done before, is to cut the mudguard down.

G'day Dougie & welcome to the nuthouse 👍
Whatever you do to your bike is your choice 🧐
IMHO the joy of ownership is more important than any aesthetic changes you choose 😳

Gidday Dougie & welcome aboard.  There's an alternative to cutting the mudguard down - swap it for a cut down one with someone who wants an entire version.  Haven't seen it lately but the requests do come up.

Good idea, there is then the downtime of not having a mudguard during the postage process. Unless someone would want to post me their mudguard first.

Welcome Mate, nice to add a Queenslander. Lovely bike. Your choice on guard, i cut mine off, much better i reckon. Hope you have end baffle out of tri oval, they sound nice.

It probably doesn't have the end baffle out, as this bike is so original. Thanks for the tip.

Welcome to the forum Dougie.  :onya: Whatever you do don't cut your mudguard down, complete ones are getting very rare and you can't uncut it, as posted buy a spare cut one and save yours for later.

My biggest problem is me, I always like to do my own tweaks and then I look at the bike and looks so beautiful like it just came off the showroom floor. Maybe I should just get the forks and engine casing cleaned up and go from there.
