The Dunning–Kruger effect is a hypothetical cognitive bias stating that people with low ability at a task overestimate their own ability, and that people with high ability at a task underestimate their own ability.
We all know people who think they are experts on a subject - but clearly know just enough to be dangerous.
Many such people are on YouTube with 'tutorials' purportedly teaching other people how to do things.
In fact they are putting others in danger at worst, or steering them toward failure at best.
This is seen is every field
Motorcycles - Delboy's garage. He's a proper smug :jack:
Cars - Built Official. Just a fool with no taste and little talent.
So - who do you know of on YouTube that would fit this definition?
First one to nominate me gets suspended - just sayin . . . :whistling: :rofl2:

@KiwiCol :cheers:
Most of society seems to live on the peak of mount stupid.
Doncaster Motorcycles live there, they are dangerously bad at everything they do on bikes. But people who don't know any better keep them in business. Last time I touched a bike they'd worked on I had to redo everything they'd done, replace crash damaged second hand parts they'd fitted that were unfit for use (fork internals bent by over an inch when extended etc).
I am trying to organize a road sign for our tennis club through the correct channels........council.
So far they have passed the enquiry on to their roading contractor. They have estimated the cost to be $2500 +gst, but that could rise depending on unforseen difficulties.
Application fee, consent costs associated with getting permission from the pole owner (powerco) manufacturing costs of sign, installation costs, a traffic management plan and traffic management etc.....
I'm thinking of getting a local sign writer to make us a compliant sign then ducking down after work with a ladder and fixing it to the pole.
I suppose l will get run over by either a council official or a traffic management truck.
FFS
Do that Col! sounds very top heavy in officaldom, they'd never know which department put it up.
@VladTepes Very good and very true. Especially in relation to Delboys Garage.
Do you mind if I steal your original post and share it on the Suzuki bandit Forum please?
