Just wondering any good shows you blokes watch? Tonight is 3rd episode of Vigil, not a bad Scottish show. Im not a TV watcher really, just every now and then something good comes up. Last movies ive seen, I liked Yesterday, Elton story, Queen story, Once upon a time in Hollywood .
You're seeing the Vigil at the same time as us topside (See what I did there :laugh:) If you can try and find Line of Duty, or the Bodyguard, by the same production team. Just as good.
Martin Compston, who plays the whistleblower and comes a cropper in the Vigil has a much bigger part in Line of Duty.
The Bodyguard. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p06crngy

Just watched the third episode, first tv drama I have enjoyed in a long while :)
@grog
hahaha saw the title of this thread and was going to recommend Vigil. :D
"Mr In Between" is good (Amazon Prime)
Anyone who enjoyed Robert G. Barrett's Les Norton books will like this show.
Anyone who liked Breaking Bad will enjoy this show.
Really can't stand TV, hate the constant ads. Don't mind watching things if I've recorded them & I can fast forward through them.
Ads really piss me off too, but how are you going to cram a 1 hour show into 1 hour 40 without them, and that's after all the good bits have been cut out. :whatever: :stir:
Homeland, best thing I've seen for a long time
I gave my TV away in 1997, I can't remember what I watched on it. But it was boring, that's why I got rid.
We're watching Vigil too, very good so far. Keep going back to Justified every now and again, guess I just like to see idiots treated as idiots and arseholes getting shot. Must say something about me I suppose, bloody good show though
If you are prepared to give something with subtitles a go "The Bridge" is well worth watching - It is a joint Danish / Sweedish Nordic Noir thing, about 10 episodes per series if I remember properly but I found myself so deep into it that after a few minutes I was not really concious that I was reading the dialogue rather than listning to it.
One of the laed charicters - Saga Noreen - is a work of writing genius :)

I'm on a Facebook page for Walter Presents which is the foreign language section of the All 4 streaming app from Channel 4. They'll talk about programmes from any provider , not just All 4. If someone comes on asking for something new to watch The Bridge is something they always recommend even though it is on BBC Iplayer.
Saga is a real character. I don't know if could last very long as her working partner.
Next episode of Vigil soon to start.
Vigil finishes next week - only 6 eps total :(

@MarkN Justified ?
Shes now stuck in torpedo tube, water flooding. Masterful writing to fix that.
Remember, she did ask if anyone understood morse. That will be her way out. :rofl2:
Personally I think it should have been the sailors asking her. :facepalm:
The two programmes I mentioned in my first posting here regularly ended the way this episode did.

Mrs Notty couldn't watch that bit as she is claustrophobic !! great drama - how come we pay license fee to the BBC to watch in the UK and you can see it same day in Oz? :)
@grog
Just one of those things I guess. We don't have licence fee here :P :P :P :P :P
Mind you its not on FTA here it's on Binge which is a subscription thing like netflix etc

Colonial rights innit? Staying over there, taking our TV...
I watched Manhunt last night,2nd episode tonight, based on a true story stars martin clunes who I've liked since men behaving badly which also starred Neil Morrisey. :onya:
Like others I don't watch much commercial television as the ads just go on and on. I gave up Foxtel because whilst they had far less ads, I am not paying money to watch their ads.
I now use a couple of streaming services and change them depending on what is on offer.

Don't you get Justified in the upside down world Vlad? Timothy Oliphant - who my wife thinks is gorgeous - plays a US marshall and shoots lots of people. Clips all over you tube, it's very good.
Not sure why Mrs N thinks he's good looking as I'm nothing like him? Will have to query that :facepalm:
Batty, i totally understand your thoughts, i know i can get streaming for free. My logic paying Foxtel is easy, it works for my $80 per month. Wife can work it fine. If i played around streaming, my Wife had problems, never hear end of it. Happy Wife, Happy Life

Hooli - maybe it was "Teletubbies" that tipped you over the edge. Well worth dumping your TV for :rofl2:
Last episode Vigil tomorrow night. Best tv for a long time.

Big articles in papers on how the series was filmed.Internal shots of sub all made from timber.The police detective was lowered into a car park by helicopter which they superimposed it onto the sub. Amazing.
@grog
Yep great series.
It is amazing what they can do - convincingly - with CGI these days.
I know a fella from my motovlogging forum who used to serve on a Brit nuke sub.
I was hoping for a TV vs Reality take from him, but he also has no TV as he refuses to pay for a TV licence so hasn't seen it yet.
As well as Vigil there is a weekly documentary about life on HMS Trenchant, a hunter killer it's obvious from watching both that a real sub is a little more compact.

And it's not all chasing Russkis in secret. If they run out of nukes just use the nuclear waste from sailors who haven't been able to use the heads coz the pipes have been blocked up. :rofl2:
:rofl2: A blocked shitter on a sub is not the best way to run a navy :rofl2:

I just googled - it's called
Submarine: Life Under the WavesFilmed on Trenchant on her last voyage prior to decommissioning I believe.
I bet heaps of stuff breaks / is broken.
QuoteFor the first time British cameras have been given access on board a hunter-killer submarine on live operations. Submarine: Life Under the Waves goes on board HMS Trenchant, a nuclear submarine, on its four month tour of duty to the mid-Atlantic to uncover the reality of life at sea. Living in extremely close quarters the crew are tasked with helping guard the UK's Trident missiles and keeping British waters safe.
