Title: Good ride to Karapiro
Post by: Kiwifruit on Sunday, 15 August 2021, 05:38 PM
Ĺeft home just after 10am with blue skies and the boss on the back heading off over the Kaimai's into grey overcast and colder temperature to see dad in Cambridge. Instead of going straight there I decided to take a different route out to Karapiro along the lake. It's where most of NZ's successful Olympic rowers train. Beautiful countryside around there along with some nice roads.
Great to be out on the bike again after having some back issues in recent times. First trip out on the bike since March for the wife. I am really lucky she is such a good pillion, never know she's there. Except when we stop and her hands are like ice blocks.
The bike has just ticked over 80,000k so starting to get run in. Rides so nice.
Had a coffee at dad's then it started to rain so we togged up and got going. On the way back we fumbled into a Harley ride. Why is it they cannot be bothered acknowledging other bike riders. They are damn loud and you can see how intimidated motorist become as the Harleys pass them on no passing lines. You can see how they give all motorcyclists get a bad rap.
Enough of that though. We got home in good time to watch a bit of sport on TV and a late but very enjoyable replay of the All Blacks giving the Aussies a good old fashioned thrashing to retain the Bledisloe Cup.
A great day was had by us both  :onya:

Sounds like a perfect day apart from the rain, something that we seem to be getting plenty of here this summer
