Hello GSX guys n gals.... I'm back !
After much Re-jigging and a big refurb back in 2019, I sold my GSx. As I watched it ride off I was gutted. Truly gutted. The rebuild was huge ( maybe not everyone's cup of tea ) but I'd entered into a bike competition for 1 last hurrah and Steve Parrish gave it best streetfighter. Happy, up it went for sale after 6 years and many happy miles.
Roll forward to today, and 18 months of asking the new owner to sell it back, today I have worn him down and it's in my name, being delivered Friday.
If I weren't fat, old and knackered. I'd try a cartwheel!
So, a return to hopefully witty comments and self taking the Pee and a damn good drink with you all.
Bars open guys, my shout !!
Stoli
Hi Stoli, great to have you back again. Hope the new (previous) owner changed that purple colour for you. :whistling: :stir:
Still got the GTR? Seem to recall you also got a GS or something just prior to leaving the forum. How'd that go for ya?

Hi Kiwi.
I was just waiting for the purple comment to pop up !!!
Damn colour blind man !!
The GTR14 was used for about 3 years. Many ( ahem ) fast tours. Ended up just going too quick too often. Things like Cambridge to Barcelona for the MotoGP... in just ova a day. So that went.
Few bikes in between. Tiger 1050. Great bike !
So to today, I'm blessed to have in the garage...
2018 Africa Twin Adventure Sport 30th Anniversary with many mods.
2005 CB13OOS
1974 Puch Maxi Sport 50cc
1971 Honda PC50.
And on Friday my GSX14
Good on ya mate, nice collection! :onya:
Do tell John, we'd be interested in it. I've heard they're good bikes.

Brilliant bike for what I need it for. No off road. Just Touring.
It's a tad under powered in my opinion. 1000cc and 94bhp. Just another 15bhp would make a huge difference.
Saying that, I've fitted titanium headers, no CAT. With akrapovic end can. No CAT caused a flat spot at 4400rpm so I fitted a Rapid Bike Evo. Instant difference. It's added maybe 10bhp. Evened out the torque and added 1000rpm to top end.
Lots of mods. All to make it more your friendly.
It's an all day bike. Sounds like thunder and have a very trick quickshifter, auto-blip downshift with open throttle.
Takes some getting used to.
I've put 9000 miles on in 2 years.
Brilliant bike. Not the quickest but not the slowest. Build quality great.
Many comment on it when I'm out.
I've got a mate with an Africa Queen, as he's about 11ft tall he makes it look like a minimoto!
A Somalian Twin..........
Great to have you back Stoli
have you been away? :rofl2:
Another Boomerang Bike!! Good yer Back Stoli
 and tell Helga to line 'em up!
Stan
woohoo ! :clapping: Back and with a real bike too.

Don't forget if you ever tire of those window sidecovers I'm here...
I think the new Africa Twin has no clutch lever (automatic electronic clutch) so yours may be the last of the '"proper" ones.
I don't have a collection but as the bike I do have is a GSX1400 - I too am blessed !
Vlad you're too scared to buy another bike .......
Not like Stoli who bravely holds the 'Bid' button down after a few bevvies :onya: :stir:
Yeees, there were a couple of those episodes wasn't there. He's still alive & kicking, so guess he gets forgiven a lot.
Eyup stoli,I'm currently waiting for an opportunity to get my wheels in for a colour change,,can you tell me what the colour is on your wheels,,,I know it's not purple,,I'm liking the blue,

He must have the baby one then. 2 versions. The Adventure Sport is a bit on the big side.
On another forum ( queue abuse ) I got tired of people referring to a CB1300 as a beast and asked why they call it a BEAST.
They all took the bait n bit straight away saying it's cos it's a HUGE BIKE...
Ahhhh I said. If that's a beast then what's this.... My Africa Twin next to a BEAST....
Silence ensued..

Thank you young man. Good to be home.
Not sure on the new Africa Twin, I'm sure there's a geared one and the DCT.
DCT owners do get very upset when I say it's kind of Honda to offer an automatic for the older rider.
My manual with quickshifter and no CAT and Acrapovic is LOUD. I can't run it with no baffles as it gives me a headache
Window casings staying firmly attached ! After 2 years sat in a garage doing nothing it's going to need a full strip check and refresh.

Hey bud. It took a while to get these the way I wanted them. I call it blue chrome. Essentially the wheels are done with a chrome powder coat then layers of blue then a ton of lacquer.
If you're anywhere near Huntingdon you're welcome to come & look / chat. I can also pass you details of who did them if want
Welcome Stoli, nice bike.

Oddly no !!! Only plastic in curry was at same place plastic was in the naan bread.
It was so abundant it really should have been a part of the menu !!
At least at the next meet up I'll be able to arrive on a GSX !!

I had a DCT Africa Twin (2019 model) as a hire bike whilst my GS was off the road. Never again. Auto box is great when you are going along (so long as you get it set up correctly), but for turning around and low speed work in town they are an absolute PITA, was so glad when it went back and I got my GS back with a clutch lever.
:stir:
There goes the neighbourhood
:whistling:
Welcome back buddy .
So now we don't have to have those "I wish I'd never sold my bike" chats again .
So glad you got it back .
Not get it fettled for the road and next time you think of selling it .
Go to the back of your house and give yourself a slap
Good to have you back buddy.
Hopefully we'll all get back for another meet up if not later this year at some point next year .

I can see it being popular on
cars the GoldWing, but always thought it an odd choice for the Africa Twin.

DCT I believe is for the older gentleman rider. Those that forget to change gears or find it all too confusing!!!
Surprised Barmy didn't take to it then !
Hehehehe
Welcome back.
I remember the coincidence of us both being GSX and GTR owners at the same time... Is the long distance touring a thing of the past now? (Stupid question really, Covid has clipped all of our wings at the moment).

Indeed. I had such fun on the GTR. 3 or 4 long tours and many short ones.
In the end I just felt it was too easy to go too quick on it.
Barcelona for the GP in a day & 1/4 from Cambridge.
So decided I needed something as comfy but not as easy to loose licence.
Had a Tiger 1050. Great bike. Motor a peach !!
Then when I got back from 50th birthday tour the Africa Twin came up. 30th Anniversary version with lots of addons, only 8 months old and 1200 miles at £10k. Was a no brainier.
Then Covid and POW ! No Europe!
Done Scotland last sept and again in 4 weeks. Lots of mini tours between. Put 9000 miles on in 2 years.
Love it to bits
