With the revelation in another thread that
@Blubber is not blubbery I figured it would be fun for us to share our stories about how we came to get our forum nicknames.
For my part - years ago I used to have website about VladTepes (Vlad the Impaler) (1431-1476) as it was an area of interest. That was in the days before EVERYTHING was on line in heaps of detail. So that became my go to nickname for forums.
One forum I was on, someone lodged a complaint that I had the user name of someone who had been a mass murderer (too soon, apparently  ) so I had to come up with an alternative.
As I have been into Land Rovers for years (I'm on my fifth, I think) I used LandyVlad instead.
The more forums I joined, the more I found that VladTepes had already been taken as a user name, so it became LandyVlad.
When I re-started this gsx1400 forum I could obviously pick whatever I wanted, for some reason that was VladTepes but in most other places (including YouTube) I am LandyVlad
Almost everyone on some of those forums calls me 'Landy' rather than LandyVlad or Michael.
OK so share your story !
I'm a Kiwi n my name is Col, so . . .
With a surname of Hawke, on all other forums I frequent, I go by the handle of hawkeye. When I joined the previous (now defunct) org that name had already been used by a non-contributor, so bring passionate about the 14, originally I tried to use gsxnutter but that too had 'gone' and so gsxbarmy was 'created'.
My name is Eric and I own a GSX1400K3.
Not very imaginative I know, but easy to remember....
Mine started as Hooli-goon, a trouble making idiot & then the end fell off.
It seemed appropriate, living in the Bay of Plenty, the 'Kiwifruit' capital of NZ.
From the "Fred Gassit" comic episode entitled "Fred the Rookie Cop". Fred meets up wth Batman who promptly states "Let's go for a fat on the Batkwaka". Later in life I purchased a new Black ZZR1100 which I placed a Batman sticker on and dubbed the "Batkwaka". I no longer have the ZZR but I kept the pseudonym.
Mine was from my Dad, maybe 50 yrs ago. My name is Greg, he just converted it. Ive always liked beer, not hard to figure. Funnily enough, he never called me Greg. Either Gregory or Grog.
Batty, yours a classic story. 👍

I used to read AMCN religiously, Fred gassit was always first. LEAVE A GAP YA CAHN!!! is my favourite
Pretty much everywhere else on the web I am "dattoman" ... or a derivative of
Here... its my Rego
During my time in the RAF most people had nicknames but I managed to get through my whole career without anything sticking except MJGT (To my face) for a short while. MJ are my initials which at the time we all used our initials and GT came from me having a Suzuki GT250 which I used to get out and about quite a lot having girl friends in more than one village so became Mick J on his Grand Tour (of villages). I use the same user name on all forums and my email, reminds me of my youff.
I was a linesman repairing phones and lines - on building sites they regularly would knock the wires down from the pole to the portacabin . My colleagues used to climb both ends and put a new cable up which to me seemed pointless as by next week wires will be down again. So I used to tie a knot in the wires on the floor, connect them together and just climb up the one end hence more time in the cafe !! got called notty for the next 40 years, some people never knew my real name !! :)
I got mine from a mate who couldn't pronounce my surname properly (Taylor). We were six at the time and it's stuck ever since
First 2 letters of my name + my surname = nickname
Chip came from the first few days I was in the RAF.
Apparently there was a tele series called Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (a sort of Star Trek under water). The Captain of the ship was Chip Moreton. So I was given that nickname that stayed with me for the whole 30 years in the RAF and the 15 years afterwards working on the Apache helicopters as a Civilian.
Most of my colleagues never knew my real name. (Alan). My missus phoned me at work on the squadron once - and asked to speak to Alan and the guy answering said - "no Alan here love" and put the bloody phone down on her! She then remembered my nickname phoned back, asked for Chip and was put through straight away!!
I have been called far worse though!
Chip (aka Alan)
Back in the day when internet was new and i still had hair , i wanted to sign up for my 1st forum ever: RobbyNitroz a Suzuki dedicated motor forum. ( which later turned into Oldskoolsuzuki)
As all this was new to me i got suddenly got asked to enter a screen name for the first time
ATM there was a news flash about mud slides in Italy on the Dutch radio and that sparked my screen name as mud and blubber are the same for us Dutchies.
There is no direct link to my mind or body :whatever:

LOL! That's funny
Mate of mine thought I was psychic but couldn't spell.
At least I think that's what he meant..
Mine is my old CB handle, got it from one of my favourite songs, Stargazer by Rainbow. Used it ever since when I need a nom de plume.
My NN was Shred which I acquired during a very hot trip across Montana when I shredded a PR3 on my Bandit 1200S I made it very slowly to the next town where thanks to a track day rider who owned a tyre changer and a worn out back tire - no sides buhe centre was good I made it back to Vancouver.
That was many years ago and out riding group fizzled out.
My present 'handle' comes from all the videos I have done in the past of all the rides across the world as "GlobalRider Presents". Nothing special!
:hat:
Stan
Stolichnaya...
Hmmmm. Sadly this stuck to me due to my inhuman capacity to drink an awful lot of vodka.
I only drank Stolichnaya vodka so it stuck.
It's mainly shortened to Stoli
Oddly I don't drink it these days. Not had a vodka for years now. This was brought about when over a weekend 2.5 litres went "missing" between 2 of us and I took a hard look in the mirror and said that's baaaaaad.
So... now I only drink Rum ! Lots of it !
Ought to change my NN to WesterSpiced !

No, no you shouldn't.
Bob :mwink:
It think you spelt it the wrong way - it should be boB :8:
What's your name Bob, starts with a B and ends with a B Bob and there's an O in the middle Bob. Cheech and Chong mixed it up.
Spelt very wrong ad where
@Bob lives it's spelt with an A
"Boab"
In Oz they call me Irish.
I don't think my forum NN takes too much to explain. My surname is Froud and I've been called Froudy since my early school days..A very long time ago :imrgreen:
Same as me Froudy, i went to school a while back. Our footy team was talented, Jesus played fullback,Ghengis was always late for training, that Alexander bloke, always thought he was Great. Adonis was good, always getting his pic taken, poor old Pontius, never really commited. We struggled on, Anne was a big supporter, just used to lose her head sometimes. School was interesting for sure. Been a while.
Lived Adelaide for many years, hence the Roo part !!! :boogie:
