Bloody EU is trying to shaft us again while we are still tied to them by pushing type approval on us again, why don't they just fuck off and leave us alone. :furious:
Because they are power mad cretins who failed in real politics & ended up running the EU.

? Pls clarify for those of us in convictshire
Whats 'type approval'? Only certain (EU approved) fonts allowed on documents?
Type approval means that any and all accessories and parts fitted to a car or motorbike must be approved by the original manufacturer, this includes tyres, exhausts, handlebars etc.
This will put a lot of small companies out of business and mean most bikes will be illegal. I don't know if the will be a start date or if its going to be backdated.
.......or/and it means that any new vehicle has to meet EU Type Approval before it can be sold within the countries of the EU. The EU politicians are once again playing God. Personally I fully support the need for some kind of safety compliance in new vehicles, but as per usual, the EU are bound to stifle anything which may have a hint of risk and excitement about it . Still, wouldn`t want to upset Thunberg and her follower would they? :furious:
Stupid little girl! :furious:
UK is not a part of EU anymore, so I guess we shouldn't worry about that.
At least here in France, this type approval theoretically has always existed for as long as I can remember, even though not being strictly enforced, and there has always been a 'gray area' as to know how insurance companies will behave in case of road incident if your vehicle has non standard/non approved parts. On motorbikes it is still relatively "free" as there no MOT (yet, but that may change soon) so no control -- except by the police, sometimes --, but on cars for example you cannot even change the rims size without risking to get a MOT fail, or change then OEM specified tyres speed grade for a lower (and cheaper) one, even if still largely above highest allowed speed limit, etc.
I also heard that in Spain they are much stiffer for motorbikes for quite some time already.
So nothing new, really, I'm afraid.

Not quite true, we are bound by any changes for the next 18 months or so so they can still try to fuck us over, bastards.
Sorry but "taking back control" and Brexit was all a myth to save the Conservative party from imploding.
If the EU bring forward a regulation that forces manufacturers to make a change the new type approved part will also hit the UK even though we are no longer members of the EU.
No one is going to be producing a less safe or higher polluting widget to satisfy a lower volume UK market, we will get what the EU is having.
Previously if you did not like an EU proposal you could make representations to your MEP, but that is no longer possible, we now have less control over what affects us.
