Sitting in the Kawasaki dealer while getting new tyres on my zrx1200r I look across at a Z900RS and thought that headlight would look nice in my GSX14. So looked up the dealer cost on my phone.
Holy shite, $2,100Australian for the glass replacement which didn't include all the little surrounding bits and pieces. Yikes!
Funnily enough I was looking at the z900 headlight as well and on e-bay I found three used ones ranging from £600-£816, i thought jeez no thanks!!!!
'What the ??? :jack:
That's why they are writing Z900RS and other late bikes off with bugger all damage. They are being sold as repairable write offs.
One sold at the auctions in Brisbane a couple of weeks ago and there is one up at the moment, though it has more damage than the prior one.
Mate had Ducati off roader, not sure its model. Crashed, superficial damage, wrote it off. Hes much happier with Honda Africa.

The trick is to find one which has been written off due to cost of bodywork etc and streetfighter it !
Sadly I've never seen an affordable Gen2 busa that would be economical to do even that too.
@SFC1000 what auction places are worth looking at?
@VladTepes Pickles is the one I use. You can register to buy online, they only want your life history.
Trouble is at the moment you can't inspect in person, only use their online assessment and photos.
I've rung and asked if someone can have a look at a particular bike to check on a couple of points and no go, you have to take some risk and pay accordingly. Trouble is lately some are paying way over the top. They can't be the wreckers, probably want the bike for themselves hence keen to pay more. This used to happen years ago at the car auctions when rebirthing was the go. They only wanted the car for the compliance plates.
Now we have the WOVR among other checks.
Out of interest there was a pretty good GSX1400 repairable write off last auction I had my eye on, but it just went too high.

I did a search on motorcycles not many there
@VladTepes Look under Salvage, QLD, Motorcycles, there are 3 pages, or check out the whole of Australia, plenty there to check out.
This one says ""Incident Type: Impact, Damaged Entire Vehicle - Impact Damaged Vehicle. but I don see anything more than a bit of gravel rash?
What am I missing?'

Look at the rear end the entire subframe is on the p#$$. Exhaust is mangled too.
Oh yeah. This is why I like to see things for real before I buy them.
Yep. no surprise with the cost of the headlight.
When I was researching different headlight that I could install on the 1400, that was one of them. Along with the round headlights off the Honda CB1000..
Way too expensive.
go price a headlight for the Z1000sx or the ZX10.. the price will give a good heart attack..
Blue, price a new HID globe for a late model Mercedes, that will shock you. Mercedes dealers , its new unit, $5000. Weve found a way at work, difficult, can replace globe for about $500. Some of Lexus, impossible to buy globe, new headlight required, lots of money. Their life span isnt that long either. All so stupid, that much money for a headlight.
BMW is the same, 8k for a set of headlights, just stupid
