I used to follow the superbikes as much as the 500cc GP bikes, and Troy certainly stood out as a favourite in the superbike field. (The less said about 1997 the better)
His 2005 championship victory was of course on a Suzuki because... Suzuki !!!!
Corser had a brilliant first half off the season, and Suzuki smashed the manufacturers championship.
Not to take away from Troy Corser, I liked watching Garry McCoy leave lines coming into and leaving corners.
Even doing this mostly on soft tyres he didn't get premature wear from his tyres.
Doing this earned him the nickname of Mr Squiggle.
I like Troy because I will always remember him standing in Pitlane stopping riders from going out onto the Phillip Island circuit because the were standing puddles of water on the track and it was still raining. Tardossi tried to get Corser off the pitlane because he only cared about the Championship but Corser stood his ground and the safety of Riders was put before Team desires and television rights.
