Hello all,
I have seemed to have lost my original profile from many moons ago..
I have a question regarding Gear Shaft seal replacement.
easy 5 minute job I thought..
looks as if I have dislodged something internal and now have shaft locked in Neutral position.
is there an easy fix? I have searched the web and forum but cant seem to find this issue ?
Cheers
Welcome - Croeso :)
Gidday Daveoz31, ya haven't lost your profile, that was a different forum, it died a few years ago. This is a new one, many familiar name though & lots of info. That being said, I can't say I recall anyone with your particular issue as yet.
Hooli will most probably know . . .
@Hooli
No good asking me, I've never changed that seal or been inside the gearbox. 14s don't break often enough for me to know about such things, no matter how hard I've tried to wear it out
However looking at the exploded diagram here https://www.robinsonsfoundry.co.uk/shop/online-store/suzuki-parts-finder/gsx/gsx1400/k2-k3-k4-k5-k6-k7-2002-2007.htm?vehicle_id=29#!gsx1400gearshifting
I'd suspect pulling the shaft out slightly & rotating it should allow you to pop the other end back into engagement. I've circled the bit I'd guess has popped out of engagement, it shows a spring that is probably enough to push it apart once the other end of the shaft is free.
For future reference, when doing such a job I'd mark the shaft so if it moved I could push it back in the same orientation.
Welcome to the forum Daveoz31. :onya: Hope you get your bike sorted soon.
Thanks guys,
I intend to take the clutch out this weekend as a local mechanic says you can access it from that side fingers crossed.
I have removed linkage and wiggled shaft in and out back and forth now its solid and stuck in Neutral..
:whatever:
Welcome Mate. Good luck fixing. I just cant see how this has happened, guess youll let us know.
