Title: Annoying Rust Spots
Post by: Speedy1959 on Thursday, 08 April 2021, 08:26 PM
Hi All,

Ages ago I bought a fibreglass rust remover pen which has laid in my toolbox unused for literally years..... Until now.

You know those annoying stone chips on the frame that have developed surface rust and you think "One day I will get some wet and dry (and Hammerite)" and tackle those?
I only had three such small stone chips to the frame and whilst rooting around in my toolbox I came across the long forgotten pen.
I wound out about 2mm of the fiberglass bristles and rubbed them across the rust spot..
Totally amazed at just how easily it removed the rust AND the paint that was covering where the rust had crept..
The secret when using the pen is NOT to wind out too much of the bristle.. 2mm max so it keeps pretty stiff..

Some of you may already know of these pens..
I bought mine years ago and forgot I had it...

MUCH, MUCH easier then wet and dry PLUS it only removes rust and the unsound paint over the rust

Dirt cheap to buy and they work amazingly well..

Give them a go..
